The roadstripe is the common theme in the brand, not the colours.
Hmm, okay.
On the 97s, will the announcements say 'This is the Green Arrows 97 service to Newcastle' in both directions?

Yes.
Would it not make more sense to have one say something like 'This is the Green Arrow 97 service to Newcastle Market Street, Via Metrocentre' one way and '...to Newcastle Eldon Square, via Gateshead' the other way. Just seems a bit confusing to have it the same both ways, especially if you're just going a couple stops and you realise you're on the wrong one.
I get they start in different places, but passengers are stupid.
A bit like with the 93/94. I never remember which one goes straight to Team Valley and which one goes round the world so always have to ask the driver.

Then we'd be faced with folk saying that the announcement every time the doors close is too long and it should be simplified. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

Oh yeah, I forgot about those people!
Could you not set it so at key stops it says the full announcement or places where passengers may get on the wrong one, like Newcastle, Gateshead, Metrocentre etc. but then when it's just going through the estates it just cuts down to only saying Newcastle?
Seems like it would be a better option than either

Not particularly. Improvements will be made to the destination displays.
(25 Sep 2019, 7:09 pm)L469 YVK wrote I was talking with a driver last week on the 309 and apparently, they can drive the route for a maximum of 5 hours (2x round trips from collecting the bus in New York). Is this correct considering that time spent driving the van to and from Percy Main would also need to be counted?
Well yeah as under GB domestic rules, drivers can drive a bus for up to 5 and a half hours.

But would time spent driving a float van not also count towards that? It's not so much the timings of the 309 that are the problem (barring Sundays & BH's) but what if for example come near Xmas and there is heavy congestion on Norham Rd with people trying to flock to Tesco to do their Xmas shopping? (I've seen it with my own eyes).
Can kind of understand 5hrs on Arriva's 308 as the drivers can walk out the cab and be back in base within a minute.

I doubt it would ever go over the 5 and a half hours. If it did, things like exceptional traffic are acceptable excuses for going over your driving hours, as long as it doesn't happen everyday, which I doubt it happens often at all. If you're late on a break you simple report it to a Service Delivery Supervisor to get a Leading Driver to cover your shift until you've had your break.
5488 has arrived according to a certain flickr page. However registration suggests this should be 5489...
Think Dan said on Twitter they are expecting one per day
