Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2019

A number of these are being upgraded following a fleet audit and update over the last two nights; quite a few of the Drifters with inoperative systems.

Let's be honest, not having NSA fitted is far superior to the XP ones!

I assume it's a hardware upgrade and not just a software upgrade with the age of some of the systems. Although Linux (depending on the distro at least) is pretty light weight compared to an XP install!

I remember when the B9s were new to the 10 and the NSA was barely functioning then, and the situation has only got worse since!

The Optare Metrocity demonstrator (YJ19HUV) that turned up a couple of months ago at Saltmeadows... seen another photo of it back at Optare, sat sporting the same Go North East logo blind. What's the story with this one, is it due back at some point? Thanks.

It's at Riverside again now.

Isn't it about time the sun fm voiced announcements were scrapped on the Drifters, the announcements done by Emma which are used when a prince bishop streetlite on an night time (or any other NSA enabled vehicle that is used on the 60) are so much easier to understand

Sure I saw one at Riverside, on Sunday.

They have been, not sure when you last travelled on a Drifter?

Four out of the eight buses have faulty systems requiring repair by Hanover, though, so either aren't working or can't be updated.

A few updates from MG on Twitter

GNE have an Optare Metrocity EV Demo on trial for the 53/54.

GNE have a corporate E200 on display at Coach and Bus UK. It does look rather good in the red, perhaps a little bland

Looks rather swanky like the illuminated logo. Dread to think how long it'll last before they break though!

It's still out so that would be a no. Easy enough to renew tax and claim back unused month refunds these days - probably all on direct debit anyway till they're cancelled.

Looks like GNE are backtracking on now allowing Student ID cards as proof of ID.

Still surprised they didn't allow this from the start

We’re pleased to announce that working with local colleges we’re near to agreeing a standard for accepting their ID cards for young persons' fares. Existing arrangements remain in place for now but we hope to have this launched in the next few days. Please check back for updates.

Sadly not all student ID have DOB so they I would imagine will not be accepted, but time will tell.

I feel like all these problems would be solved by just bringing back the Get Around ID!

That’s the opinion of a good few drivers, but the company had their reasons why that scheme wasn’t brought back. But hopefully they’ll get it right this time.

Optare Solo SR 636 is a Percy Main and is on the 42/42A today. No doubt here for it's winter holiday.

Also hopefully that Merc demo on the Hospital shuttle is around a little longer, I still need to photo it, had no luck at all the last 2 attempts thanks to weather and traffic.

That's quite smart actually, surprised they have USB ports though, was this part of the contract?

Also, glad to see they could be used on normal services too, however, what are the times for the NHS shuttle and does it run 7 days a week?

Is Riverside running the contract?

That E200 in red is by far the best looking bus GNE have, looks modern, clean and is a complete reflection of how the GNE brand should look.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2019
Liking the new NSA displays on the 4. A lot easier to read. Will the same shades of blue and the road stripe colours be used when the brand is refreshed?
