RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2019
Can we have an update of where we are with the buses getting retrofitted with modifications to make them Euro 6, it all seems to be gone quiet.

Is there a timescale for when the StreetDecks will start to arrive yet? I heard that they were still at least another month away from delivery.

I would say it'd be a shame to see the Red Kite B9s go, but it's not. I always hated travelling on them, they were too loud and and the seats too uncomfortable for my liking.

Also, did East Yorkshire ever actually buy any 'new' buses, they all seem to be ex-demo or ex-dealer stock! Either that, or we're just swapping all the cast-offs!

They bought quite a lot of new buses! but the owner also had an eye for ex demo vehicles (or perhaps the manufacturers worked out he would take them when they were finished with them...)

And I'm sure those ex demos were priced quite attractively too!

What school services are Deptford using their two coaches on?

To Belmont Campus School, one's from Coxhoe, not sure about the other.

Heard some interesting information today about which buses will be moving where within the fleet as well as the Wrightbus situation and also one of the current brands will be going X-lines next year during a visit to Hownsgill

Not sure I’m at liberty to divulge anything or not so can’t explain at the minute.

Both are numbered 4274.  One starts in Coxhoe then goes via Bowburn to Belmont.  The other starts in Bowburn then to Belmont.  While they are both numbered the same they go different ways round Bowburn.

Yes it was

Also the Loop is getting B9TLs and the Fab 56 are getting repainted and refurbished and the 35 will be getting Streetlites from the Red Kite but due to the Wrightbus situation it’s complicated things a bit more as they aren’t sure what will happen once the new owners take over.

I was told that 7 of the StreetDecks had already been fully paid for, which with them going into administration the new owners won't see.

That's wrong.

Bus operators pay for vehicles after delivery, not before.

Most of that information has already been on here, such as the Loops getting B9's and the Red Kite Streetlites heading to Deptford for the 35.

GNE don’t even know whether they will get them as it was explained that it’s up to the new owners whether they will honour the contract or not depending on how the takeover proceeds so it’s a big ?

The other big question is about warranty work etc from Wrightbus for the existing vehicles as that is an unknown situation currently.

I'd think it'd be in their best interest to honour the contract because if not I'd expect operators to just go to ADL instead, plus it looks like there's already quite a few built.

Not surprised tbh, its normally a busy route, goes right through the proposed enviroment zone.

Hopefully when the Versa's go for a refurb, they sort the allocations out so they're in some sort order (like the Citaro's) but it depends which versa's will get a refurbished.

In all honesty I can’t imagine that the new owners of wrightbus won’t honour the outstanding orders. Judging by the photo there is a good deal of buses in varying stages of build, and as Dan said “ buses are paid for on delivery “ so there if a lot of money there. Repainting and marketing a lot of streetdecks and streetlites won’t be what the new owners will have mind in my opinion.

Can anyone clarify how the interworking works these days with the 6, X30/31/45/46/47/70/71?

6 is standalone Mon-Sat, interworks with M6 Sundays. 6A interworks with X30 on evenings.

I'm guessing some of these but I'm sure

The 6 and X30 are standalone during the day and interwork in the evening the evening journeys are ran by Riverside.

I think the X31/X45/X46 interwork

And the X47/X70/X71 interwork.

So if a decker is required during the evenings on the 6 / X30 (NUFC home match etc), will an OmniDekka be allocated?

Do the E400s have the illuminated front logo as well?

I'm not sure I like the look of the upstairs without any hand rails, the backs of the seats on the E200s seem quite flimsy so I wonder how easy they would be to break if someone were to fall and grab on to them!

I know I've nearly had my arm ripped out when one of the drivers slammed the breaks on when he realised he went past my stop, if it wasn't for the hand rails I would have went through the upstairs window! (and yes, I know, I should have remained seated until the vehicle had stopped!)

I'm not a fan of lack of handrails, like having them there to grab onto should I need to in instances like you've described but at least it's better than Transdev who have done away with them as well on some of their fleet and put the stopping bells under the windows which is even worse as it's very easy to accidentally set off and awkward if you have to sit on outside seat next to someone.

The stop buttons on the back of the seats are also really easy to set off, they require very little force to push so if you're just taking something out of your bag chances are you'll accidentally push the button. Happened twice on one journey
