(07 Jan 2014, 10:32 pm)Nicholas Perry the x35/x36 cant interwork if you look again the x36 departs sunderland 8 minuets before the x35 arrives in sunderland

I think it is you that needs to check again, X35 will arrive at xx29 and xx59 while X36 will depart at xx07 and xx37. In the opposite direction, the X35 leaves at xx00 and xx30 while the X36 arrives at xx08 and xx38 before getting a 22 minutes layover, which means even if the X36 arrives 5-10 minutes late the X35 will depart on-time.

Will the peak time runs on the X36 not effect this, or is that why the X35 has had it times changed?

As I explained, the bus arriving on the X36 will sit for 22 minutes before then going out on the X35. The whole point of the interwork sounds like being to improve the reliability of the X35.

I think the peak time runs won't affect it too much, as they seem to be something else considering there's no afternoon working from Park Lane to Enterprise Park.

To me I dont see 27X/58X warranting an X as a prefix...In my opinion they are not express services and the X as a suffix in my opinion means Xtra...Whether it actually means that, I dont know, thats just my opinion alone

All the 27X does is give parts of Hebburn back their direct links to Gateshead and Newcastle that they lost when the 27 went to every 10 minutes and the 27A was dropped. The only way it is an express is the fact it omits Gateshead interchange to save time (notice that the 27X gets 6 minutes to do Newcastle-Gateshead High Street where those service operating via the Interchange get 10 minutes).

The X is in front of 27 because there is already a 27X service albeit a service that GNE run once a year during The Great North Run. The purpose of the X27 is to cover a large part of Hebburn along Victoria Road West that was not served by a regular bus service. I agree that loadings are poor which is disappointing as this is a good service and I have found it reliable and on time.
The 27X that works during the Great North Run follows the 27 route from South Shields to Hebburn Clock PH then direct on Victoria Road to Hebburn College then back to 27 route.

Spotted a GNE van parked on Lambton Lane in Fencehouses, whilst the passenger (in official GNE clothing) was inspecting the timetable earlier.

Could be nothing, could be something...

Would have thought they would have had the key app on their phone or access to timetables in the office though... Big Grin

The Fencehouses Popular Party are suspicious of outsiders doing strange/unexplained things at bus stops - only members of the FPP or residents of Fencehouses are allowed to do strange/unexplained things at bus stops...

Although relevant to all operators, will put it on here seeing as though they set the standard in the region - https://e-activist.com/ea-action/action?...ent.id=113&ea.campaign.id=24585 The Guide Dogs Association have a campaign going to raise debate in Parliament, following the Government failing to put into place recommendations from the Transport Select Comittee last month

As it's both the X35/X36 under the ''Fast Cats'' brand, I'd imagine it will be plain black, yes.
