Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022

They don't interwork with any of the Peterlee Locals (if they're meant to, someone needs to have a word), unless you're referring to passengers connecting to them? In which case you can still have an even headway between DP and Sunderland if you alter the timings.

I thought they interworked with 38/38A at Park Lane

Well we know what killed the 55

The X1 killed it. Why. The X1 was extended to Peterlee every hour with the 5th September. For some reason on the 27th March. It got extended every 30 minutes. They basically took passenger of there own route

Why did the X1 get extended to Peterlee every hour on the 5th September then every30 on the 27th March. Also the 55 runs once an hour to Peterlee on a Sunday (cough) same as the X1

Why did the X45/X46 PVR get halved? To cover the PVR of the X1....

They said the X46 doesn't make money, so they increase the frequncey of the 47 which covers that route....

I think the Quaycity route should be taken out of Haymarket Bus Station completely. I also think it should operate through Newcastle along the same route in both directions where possible, so it runs Market Street - Grainger Street - Newgate Street - Percy Street - St Marys Place.

Why thou, when all of services that head along the Great North Road past Regent Centre all go from there, so surely makes sense to have them serving Haymarket?

But not everyone heading up the Great North Road is starting or ending their journey at the Haymarket.
Why not scoop them up from various other parts of the town?

I agree. The loop it does now doesn't work imo.
Picking someone up outside The Gate to take them down to the Quayside, but not going any closer than Pilgrim Street coming back up, doesn't really appeal.

Because the services from Haymarket are every 7.5 minutes (usually) and quicker and the Quaycity is every 15 minutes via the world.

Why the Quaycity even exists is the bigger question BSIP and all that. It's operationally totally out of area on the Northern section.

imo the following would be much better:
43 - Every 15 Minutes
44 - Every 30 Minutes
45 - Every 30 Minutes
46/46A - Every 30 Minutes
New Service - Every 30 Minutes, Newcastle - Gosforth - Regent Centre - Great Park

Send the 55 through Jesmond for the extra 3 minutes it takes in return for an evening Sunday service.

Bus every 5 minutes Newcastle - Gosforth - Regent Centre

Q - Terminate it in Newcastle doing a loop around the whole city, so you can get on anywhere and go to the Quayside including serving Haymarket like it used to be and actually was useful.

As GNE probably won some funding from Great Park that Arriva didnt......

I would argue the southern section is Stagecoach terratory, espically Walker and St Anthonys. But GNE have the service and we just have to respect that.

I don't believe it is anymore? Wasn't that funded by SAGE who have left the area now. It's was in future tense that btw rather the history of it.

The BSIP has come in since then though (or supposedly) which is supposed to be getting rid of duplicated services and the Q3 is the one of the worst in the North East for it. If they're being serious about it (as nothing has happened at all) then it should go - maybe in return for the 306 leaving Battle Hill to make it fair.

In fairness, Stagecoach dropped that route there selves, can't remember the number off the top of my head. 13 I believe - but I could be wrong.

Every time i've seen the Q3 it seems busy, so there must be some justifaction for it.

Also the SNE service you were thinking of was the 34, 35A & 35B

RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
After Stagecoach dropped the 34/35/35B (or one of various combinations) because of the success of the then Q2. Nexus ran a service out to tender numbered the 106 running from Central Station to Walker and was operated by Stanley Travel and Go North East. I think Stagecoach may have ran it briefly too.

Hopefully people won't click on the PDF option to plan their future journeys as it is still serving up the old timetables (though you cant tell that unless you look at the filename or examine and compare to the html table).

Interesting to note also that Prince Bishops has reverted to it's old (current) branding on the website and the 61 no longer claims to be "Blue" - confirming the end or at least substantial reduction in new branding?

Yeah the PDF option should probably be removed in the interim.

As for the 61, I guess the ‘blue’ buses won’t materialise at all. Is this first brand that has never actually made it onto a bus? It was announced, we seen graphicS, branded timetables etc. but no actually livery. I am somewhat surprised the Violet Citaros aren’t moving to the 61, unless they’re just getting withdrawn.
RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
Appears to be another stand shuffle in Eldon Square as part of these changes:
The 12 moves from Stand A to Stand D, alongside the X30/X31/X71/X72 (no X70 - seems the bluff about DCC saving it has gone)
The X1/X1A as a result will move to Stand E from D
The 6 and 10/10A/10B will move to Stand B from Stand C alongside the 47 and X45 - effectively meaning all services to the Metrocentre via Teams will depart from the same stand
The X10 will move back onto Stand A alongside the 684
The 28/28B/29 will be using Stand F alongside the 25 and X21 (and Arriva's X12)
Appears Stand C will not be in use as a result

I’ve just noticed that. Very odd indeed as GNE initially said
  • We are pleased to confirm that we will work in partnership with Durham County Council to keep running service X70. There will be no changes to the route or frequency of services X70, X71 or X72, but there will be some minor changes to the timetable.

But today:
  • Service X70 does not have enough passengers travelling to cover the costs of operation, and as such this service will be withdrawn.

RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
Go North East need to sort the 19 out badly

The ferry was a few minutes late. The 19 left on time leaving empty with no passenger

The 317 waited an extra 5 minutes and the people have had to pay to get up to North Shields

The fact the 19 is to link with the ferry. Yet leaves early if it doesn't show. I'm happy the 317 got put down to the Ferry. Gne running the 19 has been sort of okay but terrible. They never match up correctly with the ferry with some occasional of the 19 arriving as the ferry is leaving and the 19 now starting to leave on time when the ferry hasn't docked yet

Always was an issue doesn't matter if the 19, the old 302, 317, 332, 333 always had bad connections and if ferry was late the bus always left.Mind you was always the same vice versa.  If the bus was late, the ferry doesn't wait, and on cold dark afternoons/evenings 30 mins on the ferry landing is numbing.

It's going.   People up in arms on Facebook

i thought the ferry and the 317 were both run by " nexus"? Surely that should be the bus accepting ferry tickets so customers dont have to walk up the bank?

I'm not 100% sure on this but isn't on the 317 the fares are taken by Stagecoach as part of the bid so they'll get less money from Nexus so they take part of the risk.

If they didn't come up to an agreement at the start Stagecoach might not want to give those fares up.
