RE: July 2023 changes
(30 Jun 2023, 9:13 pm)Rapidsnap wrote I'm not sure if they are being sarcastic about the Orbit streetlites. But I hardly seen anything but Orbit Streetlites on the 51/52 and one has been off since August (when I last looked).
Replacement engines for StreetLites are like hens teeth, hence several off the road for extended periods.

(29 Jun 2023, 6:59 pm)Michael wrote New timetable has it down as "Graphite", wonder if that confirms the solo's are going back on the routes.

Yip, Solo back on the 39/A/B.

(29 Jun 2023, 7:08 pm)Storx wrote Just had a look at those timetables, the 51/52 is 100% not a mistake.

They're clearly interworking doing

51 -> 94 -> 52 -> 93

Each bus has a 6/7 minute gap between them. Them working by themselves just doesn't work as there's only a 1 or 4 minute gap between the 93 coming in and either the 93 or 94 leaves. The 93 has been totally retimed.
93/94 seem to have been retimed to fit with service 1 on Bensham Bank; also 51/52 and 93/94 look to split Windy Nook to Heworth. A quick look at the timetables suggests that it could be 2 separate inter working cycles.

Possibly, but I'm not sure it will be, can't see them wanting to have one of the 93/94 sitting around for 21 minutes as it's too tight to do anything else.

Both the 93/94 get into Gateshead at 18 minutes past and the 93 leaves at 19 minutes past and 1 minute layover isn't enough as it wouldn't even be on stand in time.

The 51/52 would work by themselves though but not sure what else the 93/94 could work with as there's nothing really unless they're wanting some new open top buses. Believe they'd save a PVR by merging them together and Dan has been hinting at services working with others recently. Who knows though, sure we'll find out soon enough though.

Thank for the info, thought they would be.

Where are the streetlites going, which are currently on allocated on the 39A/39B? (8339-8346)

What needs new buses for the service changes? I'm not sure they're going anywhere, I imagine the Orbit Streetlites will be off to Percy Main to replace the Arriva services, they might just stay at Deptford for other services instead of the few 10 plate Versas, or go to Washington to replace whatever is on the 34?

I think they will go on the 35 as there should be enough of them...if they go to washington or any other depot they'll just end up going to newcastle by mistake especially bad not being euro 6.

I think they did do a brief stint on the 35/35A when the original voltras came for the 53/54 and then they went onto the 5/9 inter-working once the 50 became standalone...
RE: July 2023 changes
Is the 38 interworking changing from Saturday? I notice with the X6 half hourly, buses arrive into Sunderland and depart 8 minutes later. If they continue to work onto 38s, there’ll be a long layover for one of the trips each hour.

Might be working with the 39.

38 will be on its own, a vehicle will be parked at the interchange and once an hour drivers will take the bus, do 1 trip and then park it back up for the next trip

Does anyone know if the X20 is returning at all with the 39/39A/39B coming back to similar every 15 mins, is the X20 canned all together or will it be eventualy brought back?

If they do bring it back, I wonder if it will take a new faster express way or just the currently 20A, which really needs a timetable change as the service to rainton bridge is attrocious.

Perhaps the X20 could suit the buses on the X21 atm the 67 Plates

Apparently the 20s are stopping as they are now to Langley Park , 20A to Durham and the X20 will be   an express to Durham .(limited stop )

Great! I take it the X20s may be deckers? It would be only a PVR 4.

When is this happening?

Gne as per making it more complicated for passengers

The 39 towards Sunderland will finish in Park Lane (Stand J) but towards the Galleries/Doxford Park it'll start on the stop outside the Interchange (before the turn into the Megabus/National Express) part of the Interchange. Why can't start and finish in the Interchange. They make it way way more complicated each time

But the 39 doesn't come into Park Lane heading towards Doxford Park, if it did and the A/B still didn't that would be more confusing?

It's the fact the 39 is gonna finish the Interchange then run light round the corner to start the service again when it could easily leave from Stand J

Looks like GNE have made it simpler for customers having one standard stop all the time, rather than have some two departures per hour running from a different point to the other two.

If it left from stand J it would confuse passengers as that's the pennywell stand not Doxford

Because buses towards Doxford don't use the Interchange!!

and, of course, if it did leave from the Interchange GNE would have to pay the departure charge for each journey.

Strange they still refer to the 51 & 52 as East Gateshead Orbit, and the landing page shows the same when clicking through to website timetable, but the pdf shows East Gateshead Loop as previously noted.  Confusing much?

I'm more surprised that they're dropping it to every 20 minutes due to reliability.

Even noting what they've said about the combined frequency between Heworth and Windy Nook, the services have always been quite busy when I've seen them. It'll be interesting to see whether the reduction has a knock on effect, with each bus taking more passengers.

I guess if it is being interworked using the deckers the capacity won't be an issue though boarding will presumably take longer on any given run if more people are using each one, so unlikely to improve reliability.

Guess it depends where the busiest section is aswell if it's partly windy nook to heworth then the frequency has been increased due to the interworking in times. Similar with the 1 and 93/94 might help things on both.

Hmmm this seems to have been registered really late. Must be in response to the R1 being cut or something
