They’ll be taking the absolute p*** if they change that back, again.
Even some of the drivers don’t know whether they’re express or local services anymore and need passengers to correct them.

RE: 28th January 2024 changes
I don't know much about this set of routes but could it not interwork with the 20/20A to provide a bus every 10 minutes or similar?
RE: 28th January 2024 changes
I don't see why the Langley Park bus has to be the X20, in the evening it just means you have to unnecessarily change the route number half way through the route creating confusion for no apparent reason. It's not like the full route to Langley Park is a fast service, just leave it as the 20.

Realistically, branding needs to go IMO. Serves no purpose especially in the current climate.
Only routes that really need branded........
- XLines - Generic - Express buses across the North East
X10, X21, X30, X31
- CityLink
21, 56
- CoastCityLinks (in conjunction with Arriva)
306, 307, 308, 309
- CityConnect
Q3, 53, 54
Rest can go IMO including the X45 going back to 45 and 47 becoming the 46.

On that logic, the 20s could be city link, too, completing the triangle.

I'd be Bored in the Board Inn too.
After Houghton would likely do as before, via the Business Park and Rainton Arena then A690, The Sportsman and rejoin A690 after the business park stops that it used to serve.

Isn’t that the purpose of the Bus Service Improvement Plan?
I didn’t see you make this comment about Stagecoach’s X24/X34, or Arriva’s X16?

I’ve been starting to wonder, (granted, not enough to actually dig it out and read it yet).
Surely the money will sharp go down if it can be used to simply RESTORE a service cut by commercial operators, rather than IMPROVING bus service/infrastructure already there - so we have something new to show for it.

Some would say the difference is that Stagecoach aren't using public money to restore something that was previously a commercial service. It is a genuine improvement.
Whereas in the examples given, it *APPEARS* that Arriva and GNE are wanting to use public money to pay for services which were clearly commercial before they were reduced for staffing reasons.
It might be allowed by the letter of BSIP. But I don't think it's within the spirit of it, personally.
