RE: Upcoming Repaints
Bringing back the original 90s Go Livery is absolutely the answer to all of the current problem

I’d be very surprised & disappointed if GNE thinks a new corporate livery it what is required.

No doubt missed one, shocking number of liveries over 20 years, ironic the current one is one of the longer serving ones, believe it or not.

But for me the simplest livery with route branding was the "simply turn up and go"

Nice and simple mostly still in the company brand so it didn't look out of place if allocated to wrong route.

You forgot the time they ran out of coloured paint and the MD made them paint a load of buses in what we now call spare white

(15 Jan 2024, 8:31 am)ne14ne1 wrote Yeah I responded to that post on the previous page.
It reminded me of the old X66 Optare Delta SuperShuttle livery: https://flic.kr/p/2oLevpM
It’s even got the black wheels.
But one E200MMC has just been painted into Corporate base livery, (https://flic.kr/p/2psrB6r), so hopefully 5491s odd new design is a one off special for whatever reason.

21: Angel
X21: Angel Express
20: Prince Bishops
X20: Prince Bishops Express
X5/X15/X30/X31/X71/X72/X45/X46: Corporate
X10: Tyne Tees Express
X1: Red Arrows
Sorted, everyone knows what The Angel is so if they see an express version of it they'll know it's quicker - same with the 20/X20. There's absolutely nothing different between X Lines buses and normal buses and half of them aren't express buses anyway and aren't the way you'd drive either if we're going down that route unless you like driving aimlessly around Rainton Bridge, Burnopfield or Whickham to pick 3.

(20 Jan 2024, 10:29 pm)Storx wrote and what's an 'X Lines route'. We know what it means but to the general public it's just another brand with the other 50 brands GNE have. Go to Consett, it might aswell be just the whole network.Brands should just be
They're not express, they're not routes you drive, they're not nicer buses on certain routes. Thankfully other operators who GNE copied saw how pointless it was and scrapped it.
It's one of the worst branding exercises ever going and blatently failed as every single route has had substantial cuts or is now funded by the tax payer and replaced brands with recognition ie Red Kite and Red Arrows, in particular.
The most ironic part of it, the most express route in the network (X66) isn't part of it.
