RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News
Are the 18, 32/32A, 35 and 317 up for tender next month? Staying with Stagecoach?

If GCT have got the 335/351/359 it will be interesting to see who has won the 19 and 41A/342.

The 653 will probably be Stagecoach with it being Freeman and Wallsend, unless Arriva get it so the 553/653 is fully Arriva.

Not to my knowledge.35 I know is most definitely as it will be swapped with the Q3 (route not company)between Jesmond and Gosforth section according to Nexus but not sure on the other nexus contracted bus services.

Does anyone know if Stagecoach has won any more work? Just with the 3 darts being transferred here I assumed they were to replace MAN E200s but with 39658 and 39668 also getting fixed back up at Hartlepool im not so sure now.

Don't believe the nexus tenders are out in North Tyneside so who knows

Given that the reason those Stockton vehicles moved to Slatyford in the first place was to cope with the need for low emissions in the Newcastle area, the only reasons that they would be moved back out again would be if there were newer replacements arriving or there were less vehicles required due to service reductions.

Well I did hear that stocktons 26***’s are only on contract with them until some time this year again dunno how true that is but could be swapping the 27’s for them but in my personal opinion I can’t see that happening all rumours that I ain’t believing until it happens

Just speculating here but if there's no time limit to this 'soon'. They could be displaced out if they win the ZEBRA2 bid for the electrics on the 30/31. I know it was said that older buses would be displaced to other areas in the region - assuming Sunderland to see off the remaining gas buses.

Back to Stockton to see off the MAN E300s, the 2 remaining MAN ALX300s and the 275xx E300s (which imho should have gone last year instead of the other ALX300s given they are older than the MANs)? Likely Stockton may need additional resources soon anyway with additional routes starting in April.

I believe if the ZEBRA2 bid is successful which I’m hoping it will be once we get the new buses the 24***’s will be scrapped along with 22581. Although I don’t think 22581 will last that long thought it would have been scrapped by now or sent to Stockton with the others.

Yeah that's fair, thought they might have not bothered with Stockton, since it's got it's own ZEBRA bid in which appears to be replacing most of the fleet.

Aye they should, who knows though. There's so much stuff that needs to go soon. The Darts lingering on being another but there's nothing to replace E200's as far as I'm aware.

If Newcastle no longer need the 27s that got sent up from Stockton then the easiest thing to do is send some to Hartlepool that would see off the darts and the worse of the Enviro 200s and yes I do believe they will fit over the pits as well as they roughly no bigger than manviro 200s.

Aye possibly, I'm not sure on the lengths so can't say much really. My heart would say Sunderland for anything spare though, whether they upgrade Enviro 200's routes there aswell and displace those to Hartlepool instead - who knows.

The last thing Hartlepool needs is more enviro 200s they simply for whatever reason have not worked and many of them seem to constantly have issues and I think a few have of the 360s have been of the road for a while.  36461 has constantly had one issue after another and if the lights actually work it’s an achievement if it not that it’s the doors not working or countless issues.  The 04 darts despite there age are still actually the best buses Hartlepool have got which really says how poor the Enviros are.

Just going back to the topic of the new electric vehicles for thr E1, E2 and E6. Looking though some old pics, the Economic brand was re introduced and branded on atlanteans 271, 272, 273 amd 274 during 1985 for the 60th celebrations of Economic making it 60 years 1925 to 1985, therefore next year 2025 will be the 100 years, Century, of Economic. A good time to do a relaunch and celebrations.

Did the Olympians go straight in to the livery from new?
Always thought they suited the livery better than the Atlanteans.

Cheers! Thought they must have done based on the date the livery was introduced and the age of the Olympians.
Surprised it wasn't all of them though.

I'd say pretty much every bus that wore Economic livery looked decent in it. Bristol RE's, Leyland Lynx, Atlanteans, Olympians and Dennis Dart/Plaxton all looked fine as long as they were kept clean. A strong livery with lining out that respected the lines of the bus; what's not to like?
