Looks like the 9 is being extended to North Shields.

Will we ever see a return of the late X21?
Despite now having a driving license I would still prefer to take the bus, but if the last bus back down to Bishop leaves Newcastle at 9pm, that's never going to happen!

Will Go North East be forced to have a bus sitting in Houghton-le-Spring for a considerable amount of time - at least temporarily - or will a more drastic timetable change be achieved at short-notice?

The contract for services 10/11 (contracted as service 319) was due to expire on 20 July. This would indicate Go North East has been awarded the contract this time, as an extension of their 9 service. With the closures of the Tyne Tunnel on weekends, I can't imagine Stagecoach to be too disappointed by the loss of such a contract. Having sat in traffic when the tunnels have been closed on a weekend, congestion is unpredictable but has a huge impact upon the service.

The other registration of note is the 67/69 - I understand this has been taken back by Go North East commercially between Winlaton/Metrocentre and QE Hospital during Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Does anyone know what the 57 variation is? I'm hoping it comes back to a full service.

lots of Nexus contracts are due for renewal in July and I wonder is some of that elusive BSIP money is being spent?

Since signing up to the EP, the operator (or Nexus, where it links to secured bus services) would normally undertake a customer consultation on removal of, or significant changes to, bus links. I must have missed this one!

Not necessarily, another number can be added on, especially if it closely mirrors another route, i.e. X71 - X72 has been taken off the X71 registration and registered separately.

There's also an X32 on the X30/X31 registration.

How busy do the stanley/consett expresses get? Also, how likely is it that the 37 comes back, as I use the 39 lot as the other buses between Washy & Sunderland can be unreliable sometimes.

It'll be a variation of the 201, probably just going the other way round Bracken Hill or something silly. If they brought the 202 back it'd be a separate reg.

I enjoyed riding route 9 from Sunderland through to North Shields in 2015.  At the time it used ex-Oxford Volvo B10BLEs.

I wonder if the X32 does return, it will be the same route as before? I believe there is now a new drt service for Stanley to Team Valley, so it would seem a bit pointless.

How many X-Line branded buses are spare?, as it seems the PVR for the brand will be going up.

Not sure it matters these days. Corporate B9s and dual door E400s are the norm on X71 and X72 lately.
