Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings 2024

RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings 2024
5384 and sister 5384 are today's Versa's on Angelic duties between Durham and Newcastle

As is now customary due to horrendous fleet management and issues with the Streetdecks - there's more ex London tat on the Angel than branded Streetdecks

is 6324 one of the angel buses GNE dont trust on the 21?? It was on the 69 to wardley last night which seems like a waste considering it was near empty from old Durham road

One of the ex London sheds on the 69 expired at the Cannon on Thursday tea time around the time 6324 appeared on the 69, can only assume it was spare and Riverside sent it out to cover as it’s back on 21 today

There has been one on the Sainsbury’s shuttle work this week and there were 5 of them parked up in Gateshead interchange in the layover bays on Wednesday arvo. These electric things can’t come soon enough

I was on a Voltra Q3 Bus on the 57 yesterday I believe it was 5809, makes me wonder why they didn’t do it anyways as the route would have been so much better electric…

It wouldn't have the cost to benefit ratio (which I assume is looked at) when bidding for the electric bids I'd assume why.

Why the Q3 buses weren't put on the 58 in the first place is another question though. They might've been able to keep their much higher frequency compared to now.

The Q3 is an awful route for them. In fact it'd just a pointless route completely now North of Newcastle and the far Eastern side isn't much better since it shadows the 12.

Percy Main operate the school services to St Josephs now.
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings 2024
It looks like 5396 is on loan at Percy Main from Washington doing a 41 run (after starting the day on a 29)

X39 has had 2 single deckers on its morning run the past week or so (1 is now regular) which is causing some capacity issues

Yeah, the 07:26 one from Newcastle is allocated a single decker following the loss of school contracts. It now runs onto the 1 (and does an 355 before the X39) instead of doing schools after.

The others should still be double deckers though.

Also, Riverside no longer operate one morning run with Percy Main taking that over.

Single decks again today, the 7.50 left full and standing

Wouldn't put it past them, given they're on the bones of their arses.
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings 2024
Believe Cobalt Transport Group are writing (or about to) write to Uncle Nigel to share concerns about single deck usage on the X39 morning runs and the negative impact on bus commutes.

For balance, a note is also going to stagecoach in terms of timekeeping of their afternoon runs.

Given that only the afternoon 22x runs extend back to Throckley, is it not time for NECA, Stagecoach Busways, Arriva Northumbria and GoNE to work together and form something under the Coast Road Agreement regarding the Cobalt Expresses?

Asides the issues of single decks & timekeeping, headways and stopping arrangements / locations could be better coorindated

What u mean by extending the 22 to Hadrian Park or have 307 serve Wiltshire Drive. Yea would work out perfectly

Not a rare working as such, but brownie points for anyone who spots what's wrong with the photo, which was taken today (21 Oct 2024)

this made me giggle?
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings 2024
With Consett supporting the Metro Replacement it looks like the 16 and 16a are predominatly run by high quality Voyager stock again

Allocations all over the shop again. E200s and Versas on the 21, Xlines on the 27

Edit:
& 5488 on the 10/A/B!

Those two seem to be allergic to the X66, 5498 was on 21 yesterday as well (along with two Versas according to bustimes) and 5488 was on the 21 twice last week with 5498 spreading its wings elsewhere too.

Mind, X66 appears to be decker operated with it being half term this week, although 8803 is on atm.
