Next Stop Announcement Systems

RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
Seems more announcement have been added to certain stops or some have changed. I know the 1 after North Shields Transport Hub still mentioned Savile Street

I'd be disappointed if the supplier couldn't get out though. Particularly if there are SLA's in place and the GNE fleet were sitting there doing nothing but waiting for a fix.

Perhaps the suppliers staff wouldn’t cross a picket line to enter Depots to fix buses

In which case, they need to be more productive!

If you know the numbers or routes/dates/times, send it to customer services so they can be checked? hello@gonortheast.co.uk

RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
I was on a Tyne Bridge route today and after departing Gateshead Interchange it announced the next stop was simply ‘Askew Road’. No waffle about the made up railway quarter and which pubs to alight for if you fancied a drink.
Has Martijn’s announcement been removed for Wellington St on the outbound journeys too? (Hoping so!)

6100 too going up Fawcett Street yesterday. Newcastle on the front but the interior screen rekoned it was still Sunderland bound.

The announcement for the railway quarter is on journeys from Newcastle towards Gateshead Interchange

Urgh, still.

(07 Dec 2023, 7:55 pm)ne14ne1 wrote How come the 47 is still making announcements as if it runs non stop between Metrocentre and Central Station?
This was flagged with customer services who passed it on two months ago, yet it’s still not sorted and still causing confusion.

This has now been resolved.
RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
(20 Sep 2023, 7:58 pm)ne14ne1 wrote ‘Askew Road West/Oak Square’ (Metrocentre bound) is never announced in full.
Not sure if the geofence is too close to the stop or something but most of the time you only get “Next Stop” and then it’s cut off.
If a bus is approaching the stop slow enough you might get “Next Stop, Askew Road West” and then it’s cut off.

Also resolved.

Noted this afternoon that this still doesn't work.

In addition, it announces the Victoria pub upon approaching, but not accounting that it turns left to serve stops to/from Brady Square first. It seems to then briefly announce Fatfield Road/Oxclose Road, remaining silent till it's returned from Brady Square and passed the Vic.

How can a system, that is implemented for the benefit of those with vision impairments, turn out to be so confusing for them?

No it appears they don't I have informed GNE of this but I don't think they are bothered.
RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
What happened to the programme GNE had a while back to check over all AV systems.
I find the B9s on the 10 and 47 more often than not don’t have working NSAs.

I've found they seem to be crashing part way through the day on the B9s. I have a blind couple that get on my 56 quite often, and I find that if I reset the bus I can restart the NSAs so they can hear their stop and not panic that they've missed their stop.

I've noticed the same. Then on some that do work, they're incorrect.

The 84 still isn't correct and I reported that over a year ago. The Silksworth-bound 2As still announce Vine Place (instead of Stockton Terrace), when it's been closed to East-bound traffic beyond ttonic for at least 18 months now.

For whatever reason, Durham seems to be one that has a number of issues with GNE - on the X21 at least, Wharton Park doesn't exist Newcastle bound with the announcement upon departure from Durham Bus Station suggesting the next stop is St Leonards School (although it goes on about WiFi and such for so long you're practically past Wharton Park by that point anyway) - on the X20, the LED screens on the B5TLs show 'X20Recording2' or another number depending on journey terminus/direction, instead of Durham Bus Station.

Correct, they aren't currently programmed but will be in the next few days, along with all other services. They will also have the "this is the...." announcement which has never been programmed on the Voltras. Unfortunately it isn't a 5 minute job unlike Hanover...!

Most of the issues have been reported to Hanover but with the Accessible Information Regulations coming into effect tomorrow they have been overwhelmed with installs which has delayed repairs. We are seeing this across all bus operators, not just in the North East.

Excellent, thanks Liam!
RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
I have been on a number of buses to North Shields and the next stop announcement is saying "Jarrow" and when arriving in Jarrow its then telling you it terminates at Jarrow, ( funny)
