I don't know if anyone else knows, but the price of a Get Around Day ticket increased from £3.50 to £3.65 on Wednesday. Now, I don't recall seeing this advertised anywhere, so how can a bus company sneakily increase prices without telling anyone? Is it allowed?

The single meanwhile is still 90p.

I guess it is allowed, as you can go into a Supermarket for a loaf of bread and it has gone up in price without any warning, so I don't think bus fares are any different.

I seem to recall something similar happening a few weeks back. Customers complained about lack of notice/advertising on the facebook page. GNE stated posters should have been placed on vehicles. It quickly became apparent they hadn't been advertised, just by the number of complaints/queries. A driver then commented how his vehicle and others at that depot had nothing on their vehicles until the morning of the change.

When going to a supermarket, you can decide if you want to buy a product or not and look at alternatives. So, a bus company putting prices up without notice, isnt similar at all.

It goes back to previous comments about how GNE view customers, the feedback they get about services & lack of apparent action, the 'famous 9O odd percent' satisfaction survey and how passengers dont see their travel as being value for money.
How many increases has there been across fares over the last few months?

There has been notices on buses, but mainly in the ones that aren't branded because the branded buses have been showing the bus changes in the notice board, whereas unbranded buses have been advertising that prices were to go up in the notice board

Were also in some branded buses that werent having service changes

But a bus company does not force you onto their vehicles. Alternatives are car, walk and taxi and in many places other bus companies and/or metro.

Not everyone has those alternatives unfortunately. A massive part of Tyne & Wear isnt near a metro station and there are very few alternative bus operators away from the City Centres.
Going back to your loaf of bread example - do I get Warburtons, Hovis or the shops own brand? Standing at the bus stop, do I get GNE, GNE, GNE or a taxi?

I wasn't aware. Go North East claim e-mails were sent out to Get Around card holders - hmm, I didn't receive an e-mail!
I bought one on Tuesday and I'm sure the driver (if he had known himself and was a decent chap which he was) would have said something himself...?

GNE East Lancs Loyne sporting an updated version of The Key advertisement

Seen here inside of Chester le Street Depot, I originally thought when passing by on the opposite side of the road it was for the 100 years of Northern but when biking it back home after popping into Chester le Street to take some photos I realised it's a new advert for The Key Card, Overall I think it is way better the current KeyCard Branding, it also seems like GNE have went back to the "Simply Turn Up and Go" slogan also which in my opinion is not a bad idea in my opinion. But slight changed it changed for the KeyCard[/align]

And for those of you who are wondering I was standing in the depot Entrance as you can tell by the zoom, as I know i've been accused of trespassing when in actual fact i've had permission.

Buzzfare prices are also up. 3+ zone monthly ticket is now in to three figures, priced at £100. The annual 3+ zone ticket is £1 off being a four figure sum, at £999.

Tell me about it. When I first started working in Durham in 2007, I paid £54 a month for a region-wide ticket. So that's almost doubled in 6 years. If only wages had done the same Smile

I used to just go for the two zone ticket when the Buzzfare first came out, but then again, if you need to travel outside of your two zones only 4 times a month, you might as well pay for the full 3+ zone ticket.

I've certainly seen other enthusiasts arranging their photos into sets, but I must say that arranging Go North East photos by brand was something unique to me. Arranging by set is not only organised, but clever too, allowing followers of an individual's photostream to access photos they want to see with more ease.

The closest to my Go North East: "Buses By Brand" project (having now gone through a few of my contacts' sets and collections) is Chris White's "Go North East Brands" set on Flickr. That set features ONE example of each current brand from Go North East.
My idea is totally different in that sense, as I intend to have each individual vehicle that belongs to a brand.

Several other enthusiasts have contacted me since I started publicly speaking about my various collections and sets on the public domain, asking can they do the same thing as me, because they thought it would be rude to just copy the sets directly.
