Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - March 2014

RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Probably also worth mentioning 1305 was on X4 when I passed it in Brotton...!

Stockton Prestige 4037 came back out to play around 1100 to replace a failed 1460 on services 5/5A!

RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Why won't they allocate the E400's they have available to the route they were brought in for ? But then given the reliability of them it's probably best that passengers are given half a chance of getting to their destinations (Whitby/Scarborough) using the likes of 1743 and 4080

Exactly that reason, reliability. I'm sure 7513 has just returned from having a new engine fitted so it may be they're running it in on less demanding territory before sending it back to Whitby.

Engine refit and only 6 year old? The only thing that that engine is good for is your typical Killi to North Walbottle or Wallsend to Chapel House or at a push, a suburban route like the 308 or GNE 21. Anything more and for 7 years of consistent service and few breakdowns, you need either a DAF / VDL DB250, Scania N270UD, or a Volvo B9TL(240 for city / suburban), (270 for suburban / semi trunk and semi rural), (310 for trunk and rural).

Sorry, but anything can have a new engine at any time, indeed 3 of Stagecoach Teesside's MAN E300s have had engine rebuilds already and they are 4 years old.

4044 on X3 not unusual. Gets anything.

Oh dear so thats where that one ended up! We only had 3 Darts on 7's and 1771 on the 6 so I wondered where 1753 or 1769 ended up....
Stockton based Cadet 1915 some how ended up on a Durham working on the X1... presume it replaced something of Durham's in Middlesbrough around 0900 this morning?!

At least its not 1611, which I had a while back.

Think you will see this regularly for a while, as 1517 came off the road yesterday near Coatham Mundeville.
