(25 Jun 2014, 3:11 pm)Scott You are correct. B7RLE Toonlinks also came from Arriva as well, as far as I know.

I don't think the B7RLE's did?

No, they didnt. The B7RLEs were bought new for service 527 or something like that down at South Shields depot.

(25 Jun 2014, 3:21 pm)Scott Anyone know why they chose the B7RLE over the more usual Scania.
Probably the same reason they bought two batches of streetlites as midibuses last year, when the previous trend had been Versas.

A mere trial to see which provides better results.

Interestingly, Scania L94s were purchased the following year - suggesting that GNE preferred the Scania L94 over the Volvo B7RLE.

I think we'll find GNE will be going back to Optare for any future orders though..!

(27 Jun 2014, 7:53 am)Scott Only one batch of Streetlites is comparable with the Versa, as the Drifter Streetlites are the Max model, which is comparable in dimensions to a full size bus.

As are the Citylink Versas?

(29 Jun 2014, 7:57 pm)AIG20 Looking at the images at the bottom of the page...
*This still has its LED Destination Display's, unlike the others which had theirs replaced with spare Flip-Dot Displays.
*It has done at total of 41,180.7 miles! Is that a lot for a bus of that age?

Don't think that mileage is correct somehow! Our new Pulsar clocked that up in as little as 6 months.

Typical that these will start to appear after I've had my annual trip down there. Sad The Citaro artics look really smart in the B&H livery, and seem to cope really well on the 25.

Did you do there and back in the same day last year? Or overnight somewhere? It always feels like a canny long run, but its not much different to Newcastle - Blackpool, which I do there and back on a regular basis.

I went on the 0130am-ish Megabus down from Newcastle on a Wednesday, arriving at about 6am. Took some photos in London until about 9, then went to Brighton for a few hours. Returned to London, took some more photos for a few hours, then returned on the Megabus home at 3pm, arriving in at Sunderland at about half 9.

All in all, cost me less than £20.

A tad cheaper than the circa. £200 that my tickets cost then!

It's a great place, just a bit of a joke when you've got to go through London and pay extortionate rail fares. I don't think I could do Megabus both ways from London. I feel rough enough on that train home after a week in brighton. Tongue

Still reckon I could do it for £20 mind, if I decided to do it the same way as before.

2x £5 Megabus tickets on a Wednesday, 2x £5 singles from London to Brighton.
