Anyone know any good spots to Photograph the Metros, I have already taken photos between Felling and Heworth. Basically what I am attempting to do is get a Photo of the Metro at Every Single Station Possible, Obviously the likes of Haymarket would be out of the Question.

If you go on Platform 2 where the lift is, you should be able to get some good photographs?

As has already been pointed out, you may get chucked off the platform if spotted with your camera.

Best bet, is to find bridges or crossings.
In Jesmond and a few other places on North Tyneside, there are a lot of streets with houses which run alongside the tracks.

After having taken photos of a fair proportion of the buses in the fleets of "the big three", I started to move onto Metros.
I still want to photograph every vehicle in the fleets of "the big three" but I also want to photograph every Tyne & Wear Metro train too, primarily to allow NEB's fleet lists to have a photograph of each.

As next month is my last with a Nexus CAT, I wanted to make the most of it and photograph and ride on as many things as possible from companies besides Go North East, as that's who I'll have a monthly all zone Get Around with during August.

To answer your question, I've taken photos at East Boldon, South Hylton, Kingston Park, Felling, Percy Main, North Shields, Gateshead Stadium, Gateshead, South Shields, Fellgate, Hebburn, Park Lane, Airport, Millfield, South Gosforth, Wallsend and Sunderland University.

Of those; Percy Main, Wallsend and Sunderland University are some of my favourites.

I've never had an issue with photographing Metros.

I've taken photographs in front of Nexus staff before, and they seemingly haven't cared.

The photo I took at South Gosforth was taken whilst about three Metro staff were standing there next to me. I got on the next Metro and moved on.

That's pretty much what I did on Friday between Heworth and Felling, stood on the Bridges, Just thought it would be something different to add to my Photostream on Flickr.

It's a bit like the bus stations. Sometimes they're bothered, and other times they seemly aren't. There's no consistency. Angry I've seen people escorted from the platform at Ilford Road, Felling, and South Gosforth. But there again I've seen people completely ignored by an army of inspectors at Gateshead.

Adam,

Your best places to stand, where there's no chance of you getting lifted are Heworth (Rail Platform) and Sunderland. There's also safe standing areas (off Metro/Nexus property) at Ilford Road, Fawdon Crossing, Kingston Park, Bank Foot Crossing, Callerton Park Way crossing, and the Airport.

I'd say if you'd be able to get away with playing dumb to them, as long as you try and avoid them in the first place. Don't stand at the same station taking photo after photo. Simply take one shot and jump onto the next train somewhere else, and also try and leave the system and come back on yourself. Stops them tracking you on the CCTV network.

As one of the many who like to see photo's and gets bored of the same old bus stations or railway stations - that is more than welcomed by me and others too.

Get yourself on Google maps and see where else you can find.
There are allotments with footpaths running along the tracks, there are good opportunities around the Jarrow end of the Tyne Tunnel with traffic, bridges and the track into Port of Tyne.
Bede and Simonside can offer something different too.

Dunno how much zoom you have, but the burn from Rosehill Bank across to the old shipyards in Wallsend should offer some interesting shots too.

God i remember seing a picture of the train that livery. Is it one of the first ever advertising liveries. I know we're going back a bit but it might have been at least 1991 when the Airport extension was around. Ill follow this up.

Airport is also open so was either first seen in 1991 or was branded before hand but remained around for the Airport extension opening.

That Braathens livery was about for quite a while - no idea on dates though.
Definately one of the first advertisement liveries, if not the first.

Saying that, struggling to think of the ones which followed in the following few years after.
There may have been a Metroland livery - but not sure on others.

I recall a Metroland livery too. Possibly around the time it became 'new metroland'

Timetable is online here. Looks like it'll require 4 buses from half 10, and 2 before.

Does anyone know how long until 4001/4002/4027/4036/4045/4055 get refurbished? Those are the ones I want to photo the most.

I believe 4001/4002 are 2 of the examples not getting refurbished - 4001 due to its historical significance.
