Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - September 2014

RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
I may be going a head a bit but does anyone know what the ex london buses are going to next are they going to be b7?

RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Presently at Haymarket...
7614 on 308
7810 on X11

Even on a Sunday they can't get it right, when they've got spare vehicles of the same allocated type available.

4516 on 46 - not sure if this is normal for a Sunday? There's a Pulsar on the 52/53 at the same time.

According to a driver this is because Darlington are loosing 10 solos this weekend don't know if it's just a rumour or not
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
7518 is on the X22 this morning, thought they would allocate a MAX E400 if they couldn't allocate a Sapphire?
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
4502 is covering of a OmniCity on the 21a, so 1924 is filling in on the 28.

Teething troubles with the StreetLites (we hope!) means 1443 is on 5s today

I think 7531 has replaced it, and is running nearly 20 minutes late

1449 also now on 5s - 5 Streetlites had problems so far (at time of posting, only 1554 and 1558 missing).

I suppose one could argue that this would allow the more 'prestigous' service to have the more 'prestigious' vehicles in the event that a Sapphire isn't available, but I'd personally argue that a vehicle missing on services X21/X22 should not impact on the quality of service for service X18. The only time I'd suggest this is acceptable is if the services were secured and the contract stipulated the use of a Euro 5 vehicle (and no Euro 5 vehicles were available - which is unlikely).

The liveries are different and this will be more noticeable when the vehicles are branded MAX, so I'd doubt they'd use the MAX vehicles as additional reserves.

What are these teething problems? Hope everything's sorted soon!

No two vehicles have had the same issues - as such the 2 Streetlites on the all night boards (1553 on which I am presently sat after it replaced 1559, and 1557) will be removed during the driver's break and swapped for Pulsars or whatever is spare. There's is presently every chance that the withdrawn Prestiges might well be back out tomorrow while Wrights sort 1550-9 out (unless they do turn up tonight as Arriva have asked them to do).
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
In April 2014, Arriva announced they have ordered 97 'Micro Hybrid' StreetLites, 70 of which are the Max (11.5m) variant with 27 others of an unspecified length.
From:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_StreetLite

The basic Streetlite concept has been around for long enough for teething problems to have been identified and resolved. Are the current problems associated with the micro-hybrid system?
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
First evening of Sapphire 5s and the vehicles allocate now are 1458 (1915/2115/2315) and 1446.

Not as bad during weekdays outside of the summer holidays I guess.
Not ideal, it goes without saying, but providing it doesn't happen during the summer... Tongue

As Dan said during holidays they are often on.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Actually, 1743 hasn't done a full X93 for a while - it did do a short working a few months back. As of the start of October, the winter timetable should see the B9s enter service - however to improve vehicle back-up in-case an incident similar to that a few weeks ago which closed the A171 between Whitby and Scarborough, 1104/5 have been fitted with tachographs - but both of them will be emergency use only.

Well im just going to get my point across and then leave it before it goes any further:

It must have only started to happen recently (and 'frequently' at that) as i have never seen any images of an MPD on the X93 or seen one for myself before.

Just a small selection of the pictures I've found of an MPD on the X93.

Just a small selection of the pictures I've found of an MPD on the X93.

Looking at the dates those photos were taken on, the allocation of an MPD surely shouldn't have been too problematic?
