Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2014
(13 Oct 2014, 8:01 pm)Dan Departing Seaham at 07:24am, service 265 is operated by a corporate liveried Scania L94UB/Wright Solar. A fair amount of light mileage is involved with this one, with the same vehicle performing the 09:20am service 29 departure from Doxford Park afterwards.
Departing Framwellgate Moor at 15:45pm, service 265 is operated by a corporate liveried Volvo B7TL (either East Lancs Vyking or Plaxton President bodywork). The same working used to be covered by the Volvo B7TL which was allocated to service X3. The vehicle is no longer allocated to service X3, though it still interworks with scholars before running to Framwellgate Moor. After finishing the 265, it runs to Doxford Park light and performs the 17:04 X35, as it did previously. The two red Volvo B9TLs cropped up on service X3 every now and again, hence why you've seen one of the two on service 265 previously.
The 16:07 departure is now covered by Deptford, rather than Chester-le-Street. Again, it should be allocated a Volvo B7TL (no preference on bodywork). The bus performs scholars before heading to Framwellgate, and then after the 265, it runs to Doxford Park light and performs the 17:34 X35 (previously operated by a "SimpliCity" branded Optare Versa). As stated above, and as discussed previously, this working used to be covered by Chester-le-Street and a Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown should have been allocated. When the former "Cobalt Clipper" branded Scania OmniCitys arrived at Chester-le-Street prior to getting branded, they made their way on to this departure a couple of times.

(14 Oct 2014, 7:38 am)Drifter60 Are these the short X35 Doxford-Sunderland that the B7's allocated to? Didn't they used to be operated by MPDs? Do these require deckers.

(14 Oct 2014, 6:53 pm)Dan I'm positive I replied to this post earlier today, but it mustn't have come through...
Yes - the give away for that in my previous post was the mention of light running to Doxford Park to pick up an X35!
I can't recall the evening short X35s ever being operated by MPDs. As I said before, prior to September 2014, one was operated by a "SimpliCity" branded Optare Versa and the other was operated by a "Northern" branded Volvo B7TL (the same bus which had been allocated to services X3/835/265). Before that, both were operated by DAF SB120s - working off service 38 (and service 61 at one point too, when the lettered variation of service 38 was around and they were interworking with service 61!)
These runs won't require double deckers, but it allows for a smaller amount of light running (ie from Seaham to Doxford Park) compared to running all the way back to the depot light.

(14 Oct 2014, 7:32 pm)Drifter60 Used to always be a one in around March 2013. I used to see the working regularly on a Tuesday night around 17:45 at Prospect Lidl. Can't remember exactly when the short X35's were introduced.

Unfortunately didn't have my camera with me as I wasn't out and about taking photographs, but some notable things from today include a mobile phone shot of 4949 (NK51 OLP) fully branded up, which is now almost ready to return to service.

...and 4852 (R852 PRG) which has been moved to Riverside, prior to disposal, with all fleet numbers removed and missing some parts. Wasn't going to upload this one, but just for you Marcus:

To confirm, no 'trespassing' took place...

Issues with the x1 by the looks of it.
Two following each other southbound at The Galleries a short while back.
The northbound queue was more or less down to the next stand.
Saw two northbound deckers, just moments apart on the Washy Highway.
