Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - December 2014

(27 Dec 2014, 4:17 pm)Jimmi wrote I imagine the ex Durham Park and Ride Solos will most likely be used on Darlington Town services like the 3/19 and 4 and they only have 1 less seat than the MPDs.

Sadly Darlington loosing the older Darts to other depots and withdrawal and 1410 and 1424 to Belmont Depot in exchange for Omnicitys 4643 and 4646 so unfortunately the allocations of Solos on the 1/5/5A will probably continue until the X1 MAX StreetLite's arrive.

Ex P&R will be branded for the 13, with three others going onto elsewhere.

Hopefully if they are branded for the 13A/13B they won't spend a large amount of time on other routes like before - wonder if it will have the Firth Moor Flyer branding again.

They will be route specific branding applied, but no return of the old town route names.

I'm told that a selection of high frequency routes will gain a dedicated turn up and go band, which will be a slight deflection of the existing corporate brand, but recognisable for the frequency message.

The same style will be applied to Durham 64, Stockton 7 and 15 plus Redcar 63, initially. Others expected to follow I would assume.

Just a quick question, do the Ashington X21/X22 Sapphire Enviros stray onto other routes much? I've been looking through timetables and they appear they should interwork with 35 on evenings and Sundays. Does this happen in practice?

7454 has reached Durham - for it is on the X1 today working the 0805 from Middlesbrough.

They do work the 35s on evenings and Sundays. Also work the last X20 on Saturdays (1810 ex-Newcastle).

Thanks, do the Sapphires appear on other routes during the daytimes as odd workings? I've heard instances of them on things like X20 and 35 during the daytimes but not seen it myself.

1799 on 2

2843 it was on the X26 it has since been replaced at 1600 by 2850 as 43's doors were sticking, 2850 has just been replaced by 1794 as 2850's head light was out and driver refused to take it
