(26 Feb 2015, 3:46 pm)John_R I think the revision of the 3 in Mowden will improve the service, and should benefit Hummersknott School. The new loop will mean that some passengers will continue to have a bus service should the 16 be withdrawn. Although I would still expect the Mowden moaners to complain to The Northern Echo.

It's interesting that there're combining services 2 & 11 given the reason that they were split in 2008 was due to congestion, but hopefully the new junction at Stonebridge has eased problems. I doubt many use the service in High Grange on 19, as many people in High Grange walk to get on the 1/X1 currently.

Yeah I think the new route through Mowden is a good idea and will be good that it is serving more of Mowden especially as the funding for the 16/16A is expected to end at the end of June. I'm sure there will be moaning to the Northern Echo if the service is withdrawn like you say.

I imagine few passengers board the 19 round High Grange, few passengers used to get on the 16 when it went round there. It looks like it will run straight down to West Park from Rotary Way, Argos. Could they even have just stopped on Alverton Drive and U-turn at the roundabout which is what Scarlet Band do on the 16A to pick up the school kids.

Can't help but feel it may have been less confusing to keep the numbers 14/14A/14B instead of 3/3A/3B, lost count of how many times Fitzwilliam Drive has had service changes over the last few years.

Does the 16A go around Faverdale Industrial Estate or straight up West Auckland Road to West Park, just I saw it doing both these things on different days last week.

It should go: Faverdale, Faverdale North (past Arriva depot), Rotary Way, High Grange (U-turn at the roundabout), Rotary Way is the way it should head to West Park from Darlington, although often out of school times Faverdale Grange is missed out and just goes straight through the roundabout on Rotary Way.

Darlington map shows 16/16A route although despite what this and the timetable states the 16A does not go down Baydale Road and Salutation Road and West Park bound journeys go via Edgecombe Drive but the timetable says otherwise!

1772 has had it's rear advert removed prior to transfer.

To answer a question from earlier, 7458 is an extra spare bus for Blyth now it's no longer required at Jesmond.

I think they will be getting rid of the 05 reg MPDs at some point in the next year or so, but not sure when.

Hasn't 1712 been withdrawn as I don't think it's at Darlington depot, I may be wrong though.

Bit slow to catch on, but really not impressed with the Enviro200s on the 64. Currently sat on 1328 and it's not particularly comfortable, there's definitely not enough seats (all seats minus three occupied at this time of day when departing Durham). The plugs are useless as the pensioners occupy the first seats towards the bus where the power sockets are located (none from the middle to rear). The Wi-Fi is working, but is quite slow and took a while to connect as well. They seem to have a lot less power than Stagecoach's examples, too.

64 needed bigger buses not smaller, if you think that time is bad for capacity try standing at Framwellgate Moor, Salutation Inn at 1532 and watch one fly past completely full.

Few changes to plans over next few months thanks to Durham County Council starting major roadworks at the Honest Lawyer junction outside Durham - see http://www.durham.gov.uk/article/4955/Wo...e-underway

This means that the Sapphire launch has been postponed on service 6, and vehicles have been swapped around too. In April we now have the launch of services 22 and 24 - utilising the Streetlites on service 22 (matching the allocation on service 23 into Sunderland I guess!) and the cascaded Pulsars from service 7 being allocated to the 24.
Once the roadworks are finished we should see service 6 be converted to Sapphire. Ironically North West are using a batch of freed up Pulsars on rail replacement works for the next few months. After this they will probably transfer to us and go for refurbishment for use on the 6, alongside the E400s on the decker boards.

I think it kind of makes a bit more sense having Pulsars on the 6 instead of being mixed with StreetLite's on the 6. It is a good idea to delay the 6 launch as Sapphire with these works as you don't want to launch a drive to bring new passengers when the service is running late due to roadwork's and having them put off because of this.

Isn't the 24 busier than the 22, if so it may be better to put the StreetLite's on the 24 if they have 44 seats like the other examples as the 7 Pulsar's only have 40 seats and I think this is part of the problems with passenger overcrowding on the 7 with there being 4 less seats.

I would probably say the 22 is busier now that goes to Sunderland. I am intrigued to see what happens capacity wise on the 24 though, especially with peak time parallel service 24X utilising a decker

Yeah I'd say the 22 carries more passengers to Sunderland than the 24 did when it went to Sunderland. Not sure what the numbers are like on the 24 as I haven't really seen it since the changes.

Not sure on the evening 24X as they have now timed to leave Durham Bus Station after the 24 although it's good that it now runs in and out of school term times though.
