A few reasons: ''Diamond'' services 43/44/44A - the former 'Diamond' bus company who operated in the area. ''Red Kite' services 45/46 - the famous Red Kite birds that can be seen on the route. ''Angel'' service 21 - passes the sight of the world-famous Angel of the North. ''The Waggonway'' services 28/28A/28B - runs along a former Waggonway route. But that said, you do have a few that I sometimes can't get my head around. ''Fab56'' service 56, ''Fab57'' service 57, etc, obviously competition winners. |

Angel - A famous landmark which the 21 service passes.

Lambton Worm - Historical context Lime - Historical context Nexus - Services secured by Nexus. North Tyne Links - Services which fall under this brand provide links on North Tyneside. The Orbit - Two circular routes around Gateshead. Prince Bishops - Links to Durham, a section of the route. Pronto - The word 'pronto' means quick, linking to the express nature of the route, and the Italian theme could link to the Latin origin of the word 'pronto'? QuayLink - Links to Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside Red Arrows - Express (fast) service. Saltwell Park - Key point of the 53/54 route. TEN - Route number. Diamond - Historical context. Loop - Circular routes around Gateshead. The OK Way - Historical context. Red Kite - The Red Kite Trail (Derwent Walk Railway Path) on the route of the 45/46. I remember reading somewhere that the Venture brand is named after the old Venture bus company, which operated around the Stanley/Consett area. That's a good list though Dan, doubt I would have been able to list all of that without having to ask a certain friend.... |

Guessed it would have been the historical context behind the acquisition of the Venture Transport Company (similar to OK Motor Services), but wasn't sure before checking up on it! Very much a man of the present and future - not one to dwell on the past. |

RE: East Midlands Bus Operations
At least we can conclude from all of the above posts that Go North East and Trent Barton are on-par for offering relevant brand names..? As for judging the quality of the livery designs - I'm sure we can all bring out our inner Abraham Lubelski to voice our opinions in that respect.

Do GNE and TB have a relationship or is it just a coincidence that:
Trent Barton have the Black Cat and Go North East had the Black Cats Trent Barton have the Red Arrow and Go North East have the Red Arrows Trent Barton (albeit jointly operated with SC) have the Pronto and GNE also have a pronto Plus Trent Bartons 'The threes' branded Versa 827 is named after Peter Huntley (https://flic.kr/p/iHyZro) |

As you say it was all down to this man and his work with this company TAS. Peter worked on the restructuring of Trent Barton and then was offered the MDs job with GNE, with the intention of following on with the same model as was implemented at Trent Barton. |

Some of them (Blaydon Racers/Crusader/Red Kite/Waggonway spring to mind?) include details of the historical context behind the brand name but the majority don't. |

I have added a link to the article again, rather than search through the forum. http://test.busandcoach.com/news/article...management 'Illegitimis non carborundum'
