Ah yeah there is that, and I should have thought of that with my bus to town earlier being 1514 on the 5A, and apparently according to the same late leading driver that got the driver to be familiarised were not due 5 were supposed to be getting 6/8 so maybe some more on order?

There were 7 on order but only 5 are going onto the 7.

Just a thought, but could it be for Sunday's, if the PVR is below 5? (Sorry if it isn't, no clue about most routes south of the Tyne PVR etc wise)

Alternatively, I know that when a bus if off the road at Ashington, when it's fixed, it may return to service on a more local route first, the 35 for example, could it be a similar thing here?

I got familiarised too. Very nice to drive! I think 2 are for Durham, but could be wrong

I think the reason why they are probably training non Sapphire drivers is for if the Enivro's need to appear off route for whatever reason, so say a bus on service 5 needs to be replaced and all there is available to replace the bus is a Sapphire Enviro and the service never normally has a Sapphire driver so they will be unfamiliar with the bus as the only examples are for the 7 which has a team of dedicated drivers.

Doubt they will be appearing on other routes on a Sunday, may be wrong but it's looking possible that the 7 may interwork with the 19 on Sundays from next month although it will probably still have Sapphire drivers and I imagine Pulsars would be used on Sundays. Think the 7 has a PVR of 3 on a Sunday.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2015
I think it is sensible to assume that whilst they are to be branded and used exclusively for Service 7, no depot will leave a journey missing if they have a spare bus - regardless of what brand it is.

The difference is that some depots are better at actually getting the buses on the right routes from first thing and the confidence that they will stay on there and not require to come off for work.

No good having a bus break down and the replacement coming in the shape of an E400 only to find the driver hasn't been trained on them...

But wouldn't it be easier to put all the E400 on the 7 and keep sapphire pulsars as the spare one? Then that was all the Deckers will be used on the routes there for

In practice yes but sods law dictates that one day there'll be an Enviro off for it's monthly check or whatever reason, which ends up being used to replace a breakdown on another service...

As a result of an 8-week period of gas works in Skelton Green there is a shuttle bus operating between Lingdale and Skelton Green. 1303 has been allocated as an extra bus for Redcar to cover this.

I continue to stand by my statement in saying the Durham service 64 needs bigger buses, saw a Enviro 200 arrive in Durham from Arnison Centre this afternoon and it was rammed with standees.

Single deckers cannot cope on a 10 minute frequency during term time with the school, New College and other passenger loads. More buses are needed from Framwellgate Moor from around 1515 not at 1630 when almost everyone has gone home.

Also on some journeys around 15:30 passengers waiting at Framwellgate Moor, Salutation and by Aykley Heads and Country Hall often get left behind, believe me happened to me all the time, got so fed up of buses going past full I started getting the 21 into Durham.

Doesn't stop them being allocated to the 6 at present! Seen them wandering quite a few times now...

There was one on again today but there is 9 E200's and doesn't the 64 have a PVR of 8? meaning one is free to be allocated elsewhere.

I think there was one on today too? One made it on to the 57 yesterday also. Belmont will happily stick anything on the 6, as there was a period not so long go that there was a Solo allocated almost daily. I'd like to think that Sapphire will change their ways, but I'll not hold my breath.

Some 6 workings are double deckers for interworking with school runs I believe.

Although the 6 chucks up any form of single decker, the Darts regularly appeared on there too.

Aye they are. It's not those I'm bothered about, it's more when you see stuff that shouldn't be on there. Belmont's allocations can tend to be quite shocking anyhow. I see it in action on a daily basis.

Solos on the 64 really annoyed me when I was at college as it would always pop up at the busiest time (whenever I got an early finish usually at around 1520)

The most shocking is MAX 1415 which I think has done the X12/X2 once, even with 4 Gemini's missing today it still didn't make it out on there and was on the 22 instead.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2015
If you think Belmont are bad, you should see Jesmond. There are worse than Blyth at times.
They've decided to allocate a Solo to the 306 most days now... And the 52/53 branded ALX300s are on the 43/44/45 more than they are the 52/53!
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2015
Possibly worth mentioning that 7619 is still away at Cummins down in West Yorkshire, it hasn't been refurbished as yet. (Also there is 27739...)

TITAN is on his way back to the North East - where will he be this time?.......

I imagine it will be local to the X1 route, so maybe one of the following:

Darlington
Bishop Auckland
Crook

Unless it's Stockton for the X12.
