Yes it seems 14 Streetlites are going to Stockton in return for 14 Pulsars of which 1421 is the first to transfer… 1570 has gone the other way

Redcar streetlites transferring to Stockton
(13 Dec 2023, 6:02 pm)Ryland wrote What is the purpose of the transfer

Supposedly they have a former Wrightbus engineer at Stockton who has worked wonders on their examples, improving mechanical performance and they want to do the same to the ‘Redcar’ examples.

My cynical mind would question if 1550-9 have already been through the modification program surely you’d swap those with 10 from Redcar to keep fleet ages & costs the same? Or is there something else at play here where 14 mid life vehicles are replaced with 14 life expired Pulsars?…

The purpose of the transfer is because Stockton has ex Wrightbus engineer so they can upgrade the Streetlites so there are more reliable, the transfer is nothing to do with the routes

I’ve been speaking to a friend called Scott & we think that it would of been a better idea to transfer 1550-1559 to Redcar because they have already been done then send 1560-1569 to Stockton to replace 1550-1559 so 1560-1569 can get done then transfer 4 pulsars to Redcar from Stockton in exchange for 1570-1573 so 1570-1573 can get done, this would make it easier so Redcar doesn’t have to deal with the cost to replace older buses

The transfer of Redcar Streetlites to Stockton isn’t because of the X4 & X93 they are to be transferred so they can have work done by the engineer who is at Stockton from Wrightbus who is an Ex Wrightbus engineer but I think that 1550-1559 should transfer to Redcar then we would get 1560-1569 to replace them then Redcar only needs 4 more pulsars from Stockton to complete the swap then we can get 1570-1573 to replace the pulsars so 1570-1573 can get work done to them, there’s no point transferring 14 pulsars to Redcar which are old that would fuck Redcar up as it would cost to much to replace their buses.
RE: Redcar streetlites transferring to Stockton
The transfer of the Streetlites is permanent. It is because they are having more frequent major unit failures operating the X4/X93.
Absolutely nothing to do with any additional work they are having undertaken.

Yes, Redcar gain older Pulsars from the swap, which will be better suited to the terrain of the X4/X93 and such, but conversely, it also makes Redcar that bit more attractive for a new vehicle business case too. There is mid-term logic behind it.

Wonder if they remove the X3/X3A/X4/4 coving at this stage?

Old routes, numbers that don't exist anymore - but still advertised.

Not even the internal branding? It's been a few weeks since I was on one of the Streetlites, but I know the coving was there post-paint job.

Could be worse, could be advertising the X1 to Tow Low, in Ashington...

It's probably one the few places where Middlesbrough is an improvement Wink

Surprised they never debranded them, mind I believe one of the Pulsar's at Ashington still has Stockport branding on it aswell.

I would be willing to bet it’ll be the 14 09/59 plates that Stockton have to give away…

Why not send some 10 plate pulsars over instead of the 09/59 plates because the 10 plate ones will last longer than the 09/59 plate pulsars

The person asked which pulsars tho, and in fairness you did just repeat that there are 14 and didn't answer his question as to which ones they were - as for rudeness, some of your posts have been quite rude, just the other day you were quite rude when I posted that there were changes to the 1, 2/2A and 28/28A in January.
RE: Redcar streetlites transferring to Stockton
I might be overcomplicating things but it would make a hell of a lot more sense to send 9 (all 64 plates) to Darlington then do:

1584-1589: Darlington to Ashington
1537/1540-1542: Ashington to Darlington
1430: Darlington to Stockton
1512/1513: Ashington to Durham
09 Plate Pulsar's: Darlington to Redcar
1412/1413: Durham to Redcar

It would mean improvements for both Ashington and Darlington, and in turn send the oldest Pulsar's to Redcar where they can make a business case to get them out the fleet.

Would remove some ridiculous micro fleets which are around and batches split all over the place. If there's finally an resolution to the problems at Darlington then send 2 15 Plate Streetlite's more to Durham and send 1579/1580 to Ashington and finally get shot of the Solo's which are a waste of space the past few weeks, similar with 1543 eventually joining the rest at Darlington sometime aswell.

1404/5/10 isn’t based at Darlington they are based at Stockton, I think it be better to send someone 10 plate pulsars to Redcar that way they will last longer & then Streetlites for 8s which would be good

Just seen this after, just edited it while you sent it (just noticed before you sent), so you're not quoting nothing.

The 8 probably deserves something better, I'd keep the Pulsar's on personally and do a case for replacing them. They're the sort of routes that would be ideal for any future ZEBRA bids imo.

The microfleet of Pulsar's at Ashington just really don't make sense when there's a microfleet of Euro 6 Streetlite's at Darlington aswell.

1404/5/15/9 are unlikely to be leaving Stockton - given they are all Euro6 therefore required for the X12 (1419 is of course branded for the X12). Of course, this swap does increase the amount of Stockton's fleet that are CAZ-complaint, as 1560-73 will also be able to be used on the full X12s.

So do you know which other pulsar are coming to Redcar. And when?
It would make sense to have 1420-30. And maybe 3 more

No, I don't know which ones are moving across - just that 1404/5/15/19 will definitely be staying at Stockton.

Ashington's Pulsar fleet will be increasing by 1 in January anyway with the 777 starting. Also, Darlington's 'mircofleet' of Streetlites would be no good for Ashington given they are the shorter model and therefore defeat the whole purpose of Ashington's Pulsar allocation being for the 1/2 following the frequency reduction.

Aren't the ex 306 ones full length? They were the ones I was talking about about rather than the shorter 67 plates. Would get the batch all back together.

They're the allocation for the 1 and 2 currently anyway?
