Hi

Long time viewer, first time poster!

I'm interested in some detail about the scheduling software GNE use to produce Duty Boards. Is it an off the shelf piece of kit, or bespoke to GNE? The boards seem to have been in the same format for at least the last 15 years, if not longer. I'm not aware of any other company which use the same style. Anybody know of any?

Is it simply the case that timetables are uploaded to the programme with various parameters (depot locations / relieving points / maximum driving time etc) pre-set, and the most economical Duty Boards automatically churned out for proof reading?

Rightly or (probably) wrongly, I see there are a few available for sale on eBay at the moment. I understand that there may be sensitivities in this information being publicly available  - That said, redacted versions of the LUL Duty Books are available via WhatDoTheyKnow - However, if anyone has any Percy Main examples (current or historic), they'd be of particular personal interest to me.

I've encountered VoyagerPlan and CrewPlan in the railway industry, but if anyone has any more details on the above it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Good on GNE for trying something new with the santa bus but I think there needs to be an urgent rethink either on where it goes or how publicisied it is.  The numbers of people lining the route tonight in Ouston, and from what've seen to a similar extent in Kibblesworth, was absolutely crazy.  The street was literally lined with crowds and thebus appeared to be stopped as it pulled into Iris Crescent after crawling through the crowds on the main road.  Completelyunderstand this is down to individuals' behaviour but the company surely has a responsibility too here.  If there isn't a spike in cases in these areas on the back of these crowds, it will be a Christmas miracle.

Mods feel free to move if this better fits into an existing thread

It seems as though Go North East has setup a new feature on the Enthusiast Area of their website, an interactive fleet list and map.

https://www.gonortheast.co.uk/fleet-list

If a vehicle is currently in service then there is a "Show on Map" button, click it and and a map appears showing where that vehicle is.

Can anyone think of any issues at all with commerical operators or even contracted services in terms of routing or timetabling that has caused public uproar. I am looking into trying consultancy and advisory work and would really appriecate some good information.

Sure there's a thread somewhere I could put these but after spending all of 10 seconds looking I couldn't find it, and I didn't want to keep messing up the other threads as I know it annoys some people!

During the live stream there was some discussion around the 'Loop' getting rebranded in the new year, that inspired me to do a few concepts of what it could be like using their two livery 'templates'.

It could potentially fall under either as it is a 'unique' route in that it is a loop.  You can also tell I put more effort into one than the other!

Timetables for Arriva Northumbria have been released. Looks like 306 is running on Boxing Day and to Whitley Bay too!

Unless it works out cheaper than the dead mileage of having a half hourly 308.
