I have waited till I told people close to me, but guess what?

I'm going to Scotland, got the word on Wednesday, starting September 9th, looking likely I may be away for 2 year, though I may get home in 12 months, depending on my progress.

I have put everything into getting this and my effort has paid off, I even give my best friends wedding a miss to put all I could into getting this placement and I can justify letting my friend down, because I achieved what I set out to do.

So, I have just over a fortnight left, and it may not be till Spring 2016 before I find my way back home full time, in that time I intend to completely drop off the radar, isolate myself only keeping in touch with a couple of people, to most people it will be like I have simply disappeared...

I want to take a moment to thank you all for your support, it means a lot not only to me, but my family as well, I love this place and the mad little world of bus enthusiasm, some of you I know, some I don't, some of you I like, some who do my head in.

I enjoy NEB for all it's little faults, backbiting, bitching and moaning at times, it is a good place to be...

As I asked a while ago, can I ask that the mods do not delete my account, it is going to be quite inactive for up to 2 years, but I am coming back and I will be intending to use it again in the future...

So, this is it, now or never and I have a real good feeling about this and if I can come home fit and well and twice the person I am no, then there are some exciting times coming up.

The first few months will be hell for me, will have to pack in smoking and go through a cold turkey to get off pain and sleep pills and I ain't looking forward to that, but if I don't do it now, I will probably die before I'm 40, I'm 32 now and some people actually told me once they were surprised to see me hit 30 [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

So once again, thanks, keep me in your thoughts, pray for me, whatever...I will say my last goodbye in a couple of weeks before I go 😀

So after reading and replying about school stuff in the annoying thread, I thought I would start this thread for our school memories

At Choristers

1. At an end of year tutor group party, I walked in with 40 quids worth of sweets and chocolate what I had stole and stashed away for weeks

2. One morning I was bored, one of my mates suggested we ring another lads mother and tell her what we wanted to do with her, there was hell on about it, and the funny thing about it was the lad whose mam we rang was stood right behind me

3. Bored one day, I decided to see if I could get literally everyone talking, so I thought it would be funny to tell write a suicide note...ok, I lied, it was close to 50 suicide notes and put them in 50 changing room lockers, I certainly got attention, I was made to stand in front of the whole school and apologise
4. When Tony Blair first became Labour Leader, a Telegraph or Guardian hack came to the shool looking for a photo as Tony Blair had gone to school there, me and 2 mates volunteered to have our picture, the photographer asked us to get permission from our tutor or headmaster, we didn't of course and get hauled over the coals for that
5. Broke someone's hand after he took the piss out of me, nearly got permanent exclusion for that

I held a couple of records there, worst choir audition and worst student in the schools house system, we be given a + or -, merit/demerit whatever you want to call it, and for 2 years my points were always in the red, leaving -50 at one point over a month

At Easington...

Had only been there about 10 days when someone badgered me to fight someone for taking the piss out my sister, I kicked the crap out of him

Having a snowball fight with a friends and I accidently hit the deputy heads canister...splattered all over his bald fat head, lol
Led a strike

Set fire to my school uniform in protest at how I was being treated

When I was in Middlestone Moor Children's Home me and my mate decided were going to play truant for as long as we could...What did we get up to, went to Peterlee Library for about a week

And time I wanted to kill someone, a kid tortured me for ages, one day he came up behind me and dug his knee up my arse, so I picked up half a brick and chased him knowing I would seriously hurt him or even murder him

The time someone said 'poke the teacher in the back with a compass' I did and the kid said do it was the one who grassed me up...

Another teacher(Business Studies)who hated me said something to me one day, so I said 'By the way Dave, do you use Mr Sheen to get your head so shiny' I got doubly wrong for that, for calling him by his first name and being cheeky

Thought it may come in useful if we had a thread to record comings and goings at Thornton Brothers, Ashington. They do bus refurbishments on behalf of most of the big groups...

Arrived today were
DW23 LJ53BFX
DW24 LJ53BFY
DW26 LJ53BGF
DW27 LJ53BGK
All DAF DB250/Wright Gemini ex Arriva London. They are to be converted to single door and refurbished for Arriva's Yorkshire Tiger subsidiary.

As a result of recent posts on the forum, the Forum Team had a discussion this evening as to what action should be taken, following feedback from the community on the original "What's annoying you today?" thread. We mutually agreed that the most important thing would be to make a statement to the community, describing the action we've decided to take.

First and foremost, the "What's annoying you today?" thread has been removed from the off-topic section, and is now only visible to moderators and administrators in a private section of the forum. It has been replaced by this thread.

I have also taken this opportunity to review our Policies & Procedures, which can be found at the bottom of this page.

On all forums I have moderated, I have brought one rule with me, and it is as follows:
When posting on the forum it is also beneficial to yourself if you use self moderation. Ensure that you review your replies/posts before posting them on the forum. If you feel that the post could come across in the wrong manner try to re-word it to ensure other users do not feel offended/outraged by your post.
In short: don't do something to someone, if you wouldn't like it done to you.

I certainly feel that tonight's posts could have been easily avoided, and very much like falling dominoes, one post led to another. Due to friendship circles within the enthusiast community, I feel it's very easy to see the story from one side and not the other - this was briefly touched upon by another user in the posts made earlier tonight, too.

No users have been banned on this occasion. Whilst the majority of members were in favour of disciplining one user in particular, I certainly feel that said user did not do anything on this site to merit that particular action. We have put this user on posting moderation, which means that said user's posts have to be approved by a moderator before they hit the public domain. This is not a permanent arrangement, and should last no longer than a week (i.e until we are satisfied that no slanderous remarks are going to be thrown around, and that the events which have happened today have blown over). We cannot and do not condone the actions of said member which were originally discussed, but we do not feel it would be appropriate for us to ban said user, and it would be more appropriate for the individual bus operators to take their own action if they feel that they have received false complaints.

If you would not like to see posts from a specific member of this forum, go to their profile and click "Ignore". You would do this in real life if you did not want to associate with someone, and the same can be applied (to an extent) on this forum too.

For anyone that was worried that this user making posts on NEB could tarnish the relationship between enthusiasts and bus operators, I can assure you that this is not so. Management of these companies are not dim-witted, and know that the behaviour of one enthusiast does not reflect the behaviour of every enthusiast in the community. Our Terms of Use states:
The opinions contained in the forum are those of the author and do not represent those of North East Buses.

That's all for tonight, folks, and let's put this to bed. If anyone has any issues with this decision, please do not hesitate to PM me.

The original "What's annoying you today?" thread has been moved to a private section of the forum only viewable by the site's administrators and moderators.

We've taken the decision to do this after all of the posts which were made in said thread, which are best forgotten about, earlier this evening. Of course, the thread was very well used - we'd be mad not to replace it, so here's a "version two" thread.

Generally speaking, we're quite lenient with very few rules on this forum. A rule I'd like to implement for this thread alone is for it not to be used to target any users of the forum. If you have an issue with any user on this forum and wish to discuss it with them, please use the Private Messaging facility, as this will prevent the entire community getting involved and escalating the issue even further!

Hi Guys,

Just to inform you have created a Secondary Facebook Account, as I have decided I am going to rejoin the Facebook Groups, after an Absence from them for over a Year, this was mainly down to constant arguments on said pages at the time, which irritated me quite a lot as it was almost a Daily Occurrence.

Now I feel it is the right time to Return as I feel I am somewhat isolating myself from the Enthusiast Scene here in the North East, other than being an Active Member on NEB, I am not apart of other Groups nor am I Friends with anyone off here on Facebook either, Also in that time I have met quite a lot of other Enthusiasts such as Aureolin and Dan, along with quite a few others over the Past 2 Years I have been Bus Spotting.

So if could all please add me as a Friend on Facebook on my New Account, which is named "North East Transport Photos", if can't find it here is the Link - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100007736717436

I will than likely use for mainly chatting rather than uploading Photos, as I would rather just post links to my Flickr Account.

Kind Regards

Right, the aim of this thread is to see what vehicle types that members would have liked to have travelled on but no longer exist or you just haven't been on one in service yet. The only thing is, you mustn't have travelled on that vehicle type before and must be available in UK and Ireland. You are allowed to include vehicles that you have been onboard but didn't move at the time you were on it.

For mine, I am including linking pictures from Flickr as it includes some rare vehicles, I do have photos of some that are on my list but I cannot be bothered to upload them.

1 - Iveco Turbocity 100
One built, and sadly no longer around. If I had won the lottery years ago, this would have been on the list of vehicles that I would have preserved.

2 - Iveco Turbocity 50*
Handful Built. Either all gone or one hiding somewhere.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/auXAWM

3 - Ace Cougar
2 Built. One Preserved. The other (bodied by Willowbrook) was exported to Ireland and later scrapped.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/auXAWM

4 - Dennis Domino
Think there is 2 in preservation. One of each body example. The Northern Counties one is restored.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/8R4rry

5 - Iveco EuroRider / Marshall Maxi*
3 Built. 2 as Ambulance and one as a demo bus which ended up with Whitelaws. I've got photos of it, but here is one taken by Matthew Edwards on the same day that I took one.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/oFJMbF

6 - Optare Citypacer*
Although I have a few photos including those converted to motorhomes. I've never travelled on one.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/6WAzte

7 - GAC Citybus (KC Class)
There is one of these preserved along with one of the Double Deckers. Whilst the Double Decker KD Class had Detroit engines in. These had a similar drive line to the B&C reg Olympians of Go-Ahead Northern. They had the Cummins L10 engine, but coupled up to a Voith 3 Speed Box - Here is a video of one too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDKH_gYSO_U
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/kArm8e

8 - Quest Range of Single Deckers
Quest built a number of odd vehicles. Usually with a chain driven engine. Here are 2 that I particularly would have liked to sample. The A-Reg one was used around Heathrow Airport and was last reported as a motor home, whilst the Blue and Cream C-Reg one is preserved and appeared at a Showbus 2008 which I didn't attend mainly due to having a bit of a depression at the time and wasn't really interesting in going to rallies. The vehicle has disappeared off the rally scene and is believed to be parked up in a corner of a yard somewhere.
Photo - A Reg Quest - https://flic.kr/p/aSuzwK
Photo - C Reg Quest - https://flic.kr/p/5qgfVq

9 - MCW Metropolitan*
Always wanted to get on these. Although Tyne and Wear PTE had the 2nd largest fleet of them. Nearly all of them were gone by the time I was 6 years old. A handful survive in Preservation including a T&W one which when finished with be a credit to the owners of it.
Photo - https://flic.kr/p/dGhw5r

10 - Bedford JJL*
One of the most Attractive Minibuses I've ever seen. Only one survives as a Motorhome now which I have seen in the metal. Only 4 of them built all with this attractive bodywork by Marshall. Then General Motors pulled the plug on Bedford and then they were no more. The sole survivor has since been painted yellow as seen in the photo. It was still white when I saw it last time.

Honourable Mentions - Those that didn't quite make the top 10.
Dennis Falcon V Double Decker
Dennis Dominator Trolleybus*
Dennis Lancet*
Leyland B21*
Leyland-DAB Bendy Bus
Leyland Tiger (Rear Engined)* AKA Q723GHG which ran with OK Travel.
MAN NL222
MAN 18:240 LionCity DD / ELC Kinetic+*
MAN SG192
Neoplan N416
Neoplan N4009*
Scania K92 Double Decker*
Volvo B57
Ward Dalesman GRXI

Will be interesting to see the views of other members.
