As most of you will know from a similar thread in the Go North East section of the forum, we are currently trying to put together a history for each of the vehicles in the Arriva North East, Go North East and Stagecoach North East fleets.

If you can contribute towards this for Arriva North East, do post below. I'd prefer it if you had dates in terms of month and year in which these movements have taken place.

Anyone got any records for buses running late but haven't been taken out of service. I looked at the Arriva app tonight and an X21 was running 39 minutes late. I don't know if there was an error but blimey!

Here's one for starters. One cold and rainy night back in November, Newcastle was gridlocked and none of the Coast Road services showed up for a short while from either GNE or Arriva. The 1623 308 didn't show up neither did the 1635 306. The queue for stand L was more like a match night and just before 1645, the 1623 showed and left a couple of minutes later looking like a can of sardines! I knew not to get on that one and waited in good faith for the 1643 to show which it did and left at 1655. At about 1730, I was on the 1643 and passed the 1623 service at the Silverlink. We eventually got to Rake Lane at 1740 and as I was walking from there, the 1623 showed up 50 minutes later than scheduled.

I am in my fifties and thinking of applying to GNE to be a bus driver.

My question is....would anyone recommend it?

...been given a one fingered salute by a bus driver and managed to catch the bugger?

This thread gives you the opportunity to share these photos... Just to get your own back.

I'll start off with one I took in Darlington of a National Holidays coach:

Although I appreciate that some on here may not be able to vote, but for those who do have the vote, did you exercise your to right in the European and Local elections yesterday?

I voted Green in the European elections and, rather begrudgingly, voted Labour in the local council elections.

It has been discussed a lot recently on NEB, How in the Current Bus & Coach Market there isn't a Double Decker Vehicle which is Capable of Handling Long Distance and Very Demanding Services such as Go North East's X9/X10 Services and the Arriva North East Service X93, With the only other Option to use Coaches on the Services which then Result in a Decrease in Capacity and increase in Frequency of Service and Fuel Costs as a Result.

But what if there was a Multi Purpose Vehicle on the Market, which is Capable of Handling the above and more, such as National Express and Stagecoach Megabus Services up and down the Country on a Daily Basis, what if we had my Idea, which is...........?

The Volvo B12R Plaxton Prolific created by Myself on Basis of the Elite, but in a Double Decker Format.

[attachment=5495]

Prolific Key Vehicle Features

- Fitted with Volvo DH12C (later DH12D and DH12E) 6-cylinder 12-litre Turbo Diesel Engine, coupled to a Volvo-automated, ZF automatic, or more recently, Volvo I-Shift transmission.

- Available in Various Lengths along with Tri-Axle Format also for Additional Capacity and Storage Space

On Board Facillities (Which I could think of) Feel free to add to this.

- Low Floor for Easy Access for Disabled Customers and Wheelchair Users
- Buses fitted with On Board CCTV for Customer Safety and Peace of Mind
- Next Stop Announcements
- Upper and Lower Deck TV Screens (Optional)
- Free On Board Wi-fi and Power Sockets for Charging Phone or Using a Computer etc (Optional)
- Comfortable Leather Seats with Arm Rests and Mini Table (Like on Trains) with Cup Holders with are (Optional)
- 1 Toilet (Optional) - Wouldn't be needed on TTX or X93
- Storage Space for Passenger Luggage, Plus Additional Space on the Underside of the Staircase also (Optional)

I was also thinking a Single Decker could be made Available also, again with Tri-Axle Format being Available with the above On Board Features, If have anything to add that I have missed, which could be Beneficial, please do add it to the List.

Most welcome news today is the news that the NYMNP Moorsbus is to re-commence its operation later in the year with limited funding being sourced and Arriva awarded the contact. As with my X93 thread I'm keen to hear peoples thought and comments about this particular with a view to whether it should be operated as a tourist service where it would be possible to charge fares to go towards future ffunding and development. Thanks

I've come here to try and, in the first place, open a discussion about this service, collect peoples thoughts and suggestions and secondly for anyone to let of steam with their criticisms, Hopefully, if it works, then I can put something, proactive, to submit to Arriva management. Cheers.
