Quite a big two fingers to residents of Shilbottle from Arriva... the major roadworks have been advertised many months in advance but they've decided to only tell people two days in advance that there won't be a northbound service!
What Arriva have suggested for those travelling from the south is an almost 40 minute long diversion via Alnwick - by staying on the bus to there and then getting back on it towards Newcastle... or for those travelling from Shilbottle to Alnwick to cough up more money to use Travelsure's T01.
Probably worth noting that passengers on the 1958 departure from Newcastle won't have the luxury of a bus heading back south from Alnwick...
Obviously there is a driver shortage at the moment, so a proper shuttle bus (as per previous years) may not be possible but that wouldn't stop Arriva from at least hiring in a minibus/taxi shuttle connecting Alnwick Leisure Centre with Shilbottle and organising ticket acceptance with Travelsure?

This may cause a debate, whats everyones views on school kids filling up normal buses on normal routes, when there is perfectly good enough school buses provided, personally i think they should be banned, shame there isnt a way where the bus pass knows if that child lives on a school bus route or in close proximity to a school bus route that takes them to their school, ita a difficult one to explain, but it irritates me that people who have been to work or are elderly and are just trying to go about their business have to board a bus and listen to potty mouth teenagers who have no respect for anything,or cant get on because its full, which is what happened today (17.9.21),i mean luckily today was a warm day,but what happens if today it had of been chucking it down and had of been cold, that poor elderly man could of ended up ill, because he had to stand and wait for the next bus,or had to walk to find an alternative,i know i probably sound boring, but i was brought up in a time where you respect your elders, its not on,and something needs to be done about it,but that'll never happen

It's not a repaint but 8294 has a shiny metal box on top. What's that, then?

"Great to join @MayorJD and @NewcastleCC Cllr @GedBell with our friends @Co_wheels this afternoon to launch ‘Flexility’, our new flexible mobility smartcard and bundled season ticket offer that’s both a bus pass + car club membership key! Full details tomorrow @gonortheast"

Thought the messaging was about getting people out of cars and on to buses...?

This will just cause chaos, there won't be enough avaliable bus stops without serious road improvements. You could Use St Mary's Place and St Thomas Street though.
- New bus stop locations would be provided in Market Street, John Dobson Street, and Grainger Street

Today was the first time since face coverings were no longer a legal requirement that I have been out and about on buses.
I was quite surprised to find that on the several journeys I was on, each time the majority of passengers on the bus were not wearing a mask or face covering. It was surprising given the push from GNE to still wear one even if it's not law.
I was just wondering what other people's experiences have been when travelling on buses since face coverings become not mandatory. Is it now the norm for the majority of passengers to not bother with it?
