(18 Aug 2019, 7:12 pm)S830OFT wrote Some order predictions and cascades for Arriva North East South of Newcastle...
Cascades:
4x Optare Solo SRs - Whitby (3050 - 3053 from Selby)
The allocaton change to Optare Solo SRs will assist improve reliability, and ensure that service 95 can have a full midibus allocaton to ensure vehicle loans and service cancellations remain at a minimum.
2828 will transfer to Redcar in a spare role position, and act as an additional for Whitby should they be short. The transfer of this will allow 1759 to finally be withdrawn.
2862/2870/2871 will transfer to Arriva Northumbria allowing the withdrawl of some of their MPDs.
6x 2008 ADL Enviro 400s - Belmont
The confirmed transfer of these will allow for some journeys on service X46 to be upgraded, and allow the 2005 Volvo B7TL to transfer elsewhere in the region.
7416 - 7421 will transfer to Jesmond, this allow the withdrawl of 7410/7412 - 7415/7488.
7422/7423*/7427* will remain at Belmont as spares for service X46, aswell as forming part of the allocaton for MAX X12.
*Will swap with 7445/7446 from Ashington.
Order Predictions:
8x New ADL Enviro 400MMCs - Whitby for MAX X93 & Whitby Park and Ride.
7401 - 7406 will transfer to Darlington for MAX services X66/X67, ensuring some journeys operate with more capacity, and are allocated with more reliable buses. Stockton will continue to allocate 1404/1405.
7609/7610 will transfer back to Blyth, this will allow the withdrawl of 7485/7487.
9x New Optare MetroCity's - Belmont for Frequenta 64.
1320 - 1328 will transfer to Stockton for use on local services, this will allow for 9x Wright Pulsar 2s to go for refurbishment, prior to transferring to Darlington for MAX services X21/X26/X27.
1420 - 1428 will transfer to Darlington via Refurbishment, and will replace more Scania CN94UBs, and ex Demonstrator Gas Buses (4643 - 4648/4812 - 4814).
Service X21 will be relaunched to "MAX" to ensure all vehicles operate to the same standard, and offer all advertised features.
The Scania CN94UBs will be reallocated across the region, this will allow for older or less reliable vehicles to be replaced. The ex Demonstrator Gas Buses will be withdrawn from service at Arriva, as their unreliability have restricted them to local services only.
4643 - 4646 will transfer to Blyth, this will allow the immediate withdrawl of 1401 - 1403/7411.
4647/4648 will transfer to Ashington, this will allow for 7484/7486 to be withdrawn.
4649/4650 will also transfer to Ashington, this will allow 1579/1580 to transfer to Jesmond allowing the withdrawl of 7490/7491.
7445/7446 will transfer to Belmont in exchange for 7423/7427, this will allow service 35 to be upgraded to MAX standard.
4651 will remain as spare for services X75/X76, although will also act as an appropriate spare for all other MAX services aswell.
4655 - 4657 will transfer to Redcar for service 81, although will return to Darlington for summer season X93s, in exchange for 3x Volvo B9TLs. As a result of this transfer 7424 - 7426 will transfer to Jesmond allowing the withdrawl of 7492 - 7494. During the summer periods service 81 will revert back to being allocated Temsa Avenues.

Surely a better place for the Optare Solo SR's if they ever came up
here would be Ashington for the 57/A which has a PVR of 4 to then
withdraw 1800/1 and send the 2 solos to Blyth to withdraw 2 MPD's from
there. Then with the rumoured new buses for Jesmond which will see off
some solos there send them also to Blyth to see the end of the MPD's
altogether.

Ashington badly need something better as the Streetlites / Deckers are on the 57 almost daily lately.

Also replacing Deckers for Scanias at Ashington and replacing the commanders with them at the same time is pointless. Causing microfleets for no reason at all with little benefit (reduced capacity / only 1.5 year age difference).
