X1 now finshes in 4 different places

Dalton Park, Haswell Plough, Easington Lane & Peterlee

Surly they should have done idk Dalton Park & Haswell Plough as a separate number like X2

Wonder what they'll allocate to the X1, as the PVR should go up, hopefully order more new buses for the route?, However they can't even allocate the new buses to route now...
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.
RE: Bus Consultion for May 2026
Haswell Plough is rather random and I can’t see it lasting too long. I also can’t help but feel like trying Dalton Park again is just flogging a dead horse. Having a bus block the stand for 7 minutes as well isn’t going to win any popularity contests either.
RE: Bus Consultion for May 2026
If they've got enough time to send a bus to Haswell Plough, they've also got enough to serve Murton instead, which has more chimney pots twice an hour.

Suppose it's a new link, so that's a positive.

I notice the short trips on the X10 are removed on Sundays

That just feels silly with 4 different termination points
Stick to Peterlee because it will just confuse customers at this point plus I think it will annoy users at Easington to see their bus drift off to the road that takes the X1 to Dalton Park instead of going to their stop.

And I agree. Needs split into 2 if they are going to add these 2 additional finishing points
RE: Bus Consultion for May 2026
I think personally they're going back to how it was several years back when the X1 served Dalton Park but now with the addition of Haswell Plough which seems odd to me, where do you turn the bus round there???

Personally I would've potentially looked at a variation after Hetton-Le-Hole going via Low Moorsley and High Pittington to Sherburn Village.

If you look at it as well they seem to be slowly edging back towards potentially serving Hartlepool.

I do think there is wider issue they've not factored in at Dalton Park and that is the X6/X10 and duplicating services, so I thought I'd do a few changes whilst also factoring in the 65.

X1 - Newcastle to Easington Lane and Peterlee
via Gateshead, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Wrekenton, Springwell Village, Washington, Shiney Row, Houghton-le-Spring, Hetton-le-Hole, Murton, Dalton Park and Peterlee Moorcock
  • Extended to Peterlee via Murton, Dalton Park and Peterlee Moorcock reinstating old links and in part replacing the X6 between Peterlee and Dalton Park operating Every 30 Minutes.

X6/X6A Sunderland to Durham
via Grangetown, Seaham, New Seaham, Spectrum Business Park, Dalton Park, Murton, Hetton-le-Hole, Low Moorsley, Low Pittington, Belmont and Gilesgate
  • The X6 would after Dalton Park no longer go to Peterlee as it is replaced by the revised variation of X1, the service would instead be merged into the 65 providing a Cross County Durham Coast Express service between Durham and Sunderland maintaining existing frequencies of Every 30 Minutes.

X10 - Newcastle to Middlesbrough
via Gateshead, Heworth, Peterlee, Billingham, Norton and Stockton
  • The service would no longer serve Dalton Park and would instead stick to the A19 offering a faster service to Newcastle and Middlesbrough, customers wanting to go to Dalton Park are advised to get the X1.

In terms of turning a bus at Haswell Plough, you  do a loop from Haswell. And you’d be surprised how many people go to Dalton Park from Teesside in fairness. I’d always argue though that the X9 should be returned rather than extensions to the X1

You've removed the only bus between Seaham and Peterlee here - just saying.

imo if your going down this route there needs to be a look at how many people are actually travelling to Newcastle from the South of Houghton Le Spring and if there's not many, reduce the frequency of the X1 with the Newcastle expresses going elsewhere and give them buses to other places like Sunderland or whatever.

Literally all the red area below don't have a Newcastle direct service Monday - Sunday:

imo it's unacceptable really.
RE: Bus Consultion for May 2026
The people of Haswell Plough might welcome being able to get to places other than Peterlee or Durham without having to spend half an hour on the Arriva 24, first.

I'd have thought the option to get bums on seats, would be to follow the route of the 24 from Haswell, but loop around the estate and then back out, like the 24 does. You're passing a much larger population, than sending it via Salters Lane.

To be honest, I can't see this route being anything other than somewhere convenient to turn a bus, without increasing resource or have it sitting at Easington Lane turning circle.
Anyone using it is a brucey bonus.
Any late running, and they turn it at Easington Lane.

5 if you include Picktree.

Utterly bizarre they're milking a number so much to provide some sort of route identity.
