In fairness, I'm surprised there hasn't been more complaining. The service is an absolute shambles down there, it's deserved tbf.

The 3, 62 and 64B - in particular, are completely unusable today.

The allocations are horrific aswell; I respect there's a shortage of drivers but missing the first 3 boards on the 62 and 64B is just incompetence imo and now having a 3 hour gap running around all day. At least attempt to get everything 2 hourly...

Also two hours gap on the x4 last morning sevice 10.40  2 hours. Later 13.40  x4 ran  not forgetting the x93s every 2 hours from middilesbrough so the x4 is regular used from the bus station on sundays

The 8s can’t be cancelled - for starter they interwork with the tendered 29/29A (although as we can see today, the 3s are cancelled for hours and they are tendered). And secondly - the vast majority of Stockton’s drivers have yet to be route learnt the ex-Redcar work as the rotas are still mostly separate. So you could cancel an 8 but the driver would very likely not be able to cover an X3 or a 63 as they don’t know it.

Aye not gonna lie, I'd probably be dropping all the Stockton X4 boards (I don't how many there are though). 

The 3/62/64B should be prioritised imo as those areas right now are pretty much without a service especially the Eston area. 

Most areas on the X4 route have the 5 to get to Boro and if they don't they have the 3 which interworks with the 62 which is a long journey I admit, but it's a journey.

There’s no such thing as an X4 board at Stockton on Sundays - all boards with the exception of the 2 7s and the 3 15s work on the principal of ‘One Driver, One Bus’. That means the driver takes the bus out of the depot at the start of their shift and retains it until the end. The trips cancelled this morning and this afternoon are all on the same duties - hence why there are large gaps. There are a few boards that may be split between two shifts but those tend to be one that is on a short early shift then a short late turn.

Well unless they have and they were all doing the GNR instead.

One thing tho staithes hinderwell runswick bay elllerby liyth sandsend  only have the x4  thats there only bus  thats 7 days a week

Arriva drivers from other regions are coming, I'm told quite a few are due to arrive tomorrow.

Must say seems a crazy decision by the union. I understand the money side etc but I wouldn't want to drive a bus through Teesville at the best of times nevermind when there's been a 3 hour gap. 

There's only one person who's getting that abuse and it isn't the trade union staff (unless he's also a driver - unsure).

It's the long-standing Union agreement I understand - agency staff can only be drafted in to Durham County for contract work, hence the recent use of them at Whitby on the Park & Ride work only (until the closure of Redcar - at which point, the amount of drivers that moved from Redcar to Whitby was enough to take the P1/P2 back in-house with).

As for the Union reps, all Union reps at depot-level at almost every Bus company in this area are drivers with shifts that see them on the road for a few hours.

Returned due to no longer being needed - with the arrival of 3501 and 3502, there's now fleet members to begin type training Stockton drivers on them. As they may be used on work other than 63/64/65 plus Stockton drivers have driving stints on those services now as well.

Yeah had a feeling it was a legacy thing, mind they'd probably better wavering it for a few weeks for the interests of the drivers right now, but I get why you wouldn't want to do that aswell as it opens a can of worms for the future.

Good to see Mr Gilbert has passed on "lessons learned" from the Chester-le-Street debacle to the local team at Tees and District. Totally predictable outcome of the (unnecessary IMO) Redcar closure
