That's a similar situation but they've chose to break the route at Dalton Park to avoid the use of tachos. From a legal perspective there's two separate X55s - one from Stockton to Dalton Park and one from Dalton Park to Newcastle. Doesn't make a difference from a passenger point of view other than a disclaimer in the timetable and the destination will probably read something along the lines of 'Dalton Park for Newcastle'.

It shows the pointless bureaucracy and need for reform of driving regulations if they can be so easily side-stepped, but I guess there's more pressing matters.
