I assume it's a big part cause there's always lots of taxis about regardless of time I go past, and I go past at least once a day trying to squeeze me bus between them all. Can't see them being there unless there was money to be made!
I mean I wouldn't pay for taxis but your comment alluded to there being people stranded in Durham. I'm sure there would be ways that everyone could get to their own bed on every night, and I'm sure we would have heard about it if this wasn't the case. We've had an abundance of slow news days, and this would definitely be something they would jump on!
So nowt to do with the de-regulation of taxi services in Durham or the merger of separate local councils within Co Durham, that enabled those previously on a Chester, Derwentside or Bishop Auckland etc plate, to now ply their trade anywhere within the county?
A glut of taxis perhaps, that led to huge queues on Claypath and the opening of a new rank just a few years ago outside the Prince Bishops car park?
