That was a much later incarnation - there were three different 26's operated by Sunderland Busways at different times.  The one from St Peters to The Forge was the last of the three and started in August 1994.

If I remember correctly:

1, 26 North Estates to Seaburn (summer Sunday Service)

2, 26 Sunderland to Seaburn Camp ( to compete against Catch A Bus service 6 along that section)

3, 26 St. Peter’s - Sunderland - Old Forge
