I do rate this in the Temsa Avenue class of ugly looking buses though.
Yeah, Best Impressions retweeted GNE's post about VOLTRA so they're most definitely involved. But to be honest, even for them it looks a bit crap. I really can't see a way vinyls can save it
And as for the bus, I actually don't mind it, it's not the nicest, but it's certainly nicer than the lob sided front end of the E200! Does look like it's frowning though, but still better than looking like it's having a stroke!
RE: VOLTRA
Are these a new type of Yutong bus as the pod on the top of the bus is different to the ones at Leeds and looks frankly horrendous. Looks like it's come off a motorhome from the 1980's. The windowline also looks higher which imo makes them very ugly.
The black on the front really makes the bus off aswell. They're definitely up there with the Marshall Darts and the Wright Handybus for their looks.

I remember either MG or Dan saying a while back that the have an upgraded battery pack compared to what they initially ordered, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it
RE: VOLTRA
Looks like GNE have requested roof fairings to hide the boxy battery packs.

RE: VOLTRA
The black certainly helps give the window line more shape, which I think is needed around the front as the vehicle's design is very simple and straight-lined compared with products from the bigger or more popular bus manufacturers.
I initially wondered if the black along the sides towards the rear was to give the window area a more unusual shape, with the road-strips* then placed on top of the black. But if that was the case why would the black line go through the wheel, as windows obviously wouldn't. ...Unless they were to fit whose weird body panels that cover most of the wheel and make it look like the rear of the bus is almost floating!! Haha, maybe not.
*or maybe slightly altered road-strips to look like electric volts.
Who knows, I'm sure we'll find out soon.

I really can't see a way vinyls can save itIf you want a really bad dark and dingy livery just look at York Park & Ride livery. Nearly invisible in the dark with rusty window pillars. I first saw this livery late last year and the bus was nearly invisible as it was dark if it wasn't for lights and it's destination. I thought would the branding make it better but it just looks like patches of rust all over it.

From the looks of MG's latest Tweet, the VOLTRA livery isn't going to get much more exciting than it is now!
I don't think they could have made it any more bland if they tried!

Edit - presuming change in funding for 18 hasn't changed
RE: VOLTRA
A reply to a question asked if the old Streetlites will go on the 57 from Martijn:
----
No. They will be come ‘generic’ red buses used across our fleet. No specific set route plan for them at this time.

---
Looks like they haven't finalised the plans of where the Streetlites are going, just looks like they'll become spares.

Might aswell send them to Percy Main and replace 698 - 704 (4x 11, 4x 19) or replace some other Solo route which indirect replaces them. There's enough Versas at Riverside to run those routes with nowhere for them to go and most of them have Euro 6 mods aswell. They probably don't warrant bigger buses but 698 - 704 are non standard, grim inside for a passenger and need replacing ideally next year anyway.
RE: VOLTRA
Looks like 4 of them are inside for storage... not sure if that includes the 2 which have been parked outside the last few days.

Vaughan works at Pelican Bus & Coach in Castleford - that’s where those buses are. [emoji6]

Aye, hopefully after the 18 arrive, they decide to buy more, wasn't GNE putting 20 chargers in the current depot?
I do wonder if they'll make Riverside a electric depot in the next 5 years but it depends if the Government give more funding out for it.
