Go North East: Withdrawn Vehicles & Fleet Disposals

RE: Go North East: Withdrawn Vehicles & Fleet Disposals
I should imagine that Facebook is the best way of getting through to preservationists and small independents with minimal overheads, particularly on vehicles changing hands for 4 figure sums.

Does anyone know what happened with Mercedes-Benz Citaros 5298-5303 that were formerly on the X84/X85, I recall seeing photos of these at Thorntons with an intended transfer to Go North West, is that still the case or are like 8288 (X94 FOR) where they'll sit for a number of years prior to being disposed of.

Most of them are now in service at Go North West - some of them may still be awaiting conversion to Euro 6.

It was 5299/5300 that weren't showing when I done a search, was 5304 due to go to Go North West as I see that one is still in service with Go North East.

No, 5304 will remain in the North East. Go North West has received all the Citaros they were due to get.

All the elderly Volvo B7RLEs in their fleet have now been displaced, albeit some retained temporarily whilst repaints are ongoing and Citaros are converted to Euro 6 (takes a lot longer than normal because they're having to take existing Euro 5+ kit out and replace with another manufacturers' Euro 6 kit).

If the mercs are getting euro 6 conversion in Manchester why don't GNE do that with their mercs.

Because:
- a) they don’t need to, it’s more cost effective to paint buses than retrofit kit
- b) GNE uses another supplier that doesn’t support Citaros.

What about the Euro 5 Streetlites, especially not the Micro-Hybirds, can they be converted? & Solo's/Versa's. Also how much is a conversion ?

Does it matter if the company uses more than one supplier if it means the fleet can be supported with a Euro 6 upgrade.

Clearly it matters to GNE - introducing lots of different systems from different manufacturers doesn’t really aid the lean engineering approach that they usually go for.

Guess these have now left the fleet after lease from Ensign ended, there was no trace of these up in Consett this afternoon however there were plenty of Dual Door B7 Geminis.

I wish they kept the Lothian Geminis. There is actually space on them for my school service. B7TL’s just go slow on a little slope and there is only just enough seats upstairs. Downstairs can be really packed. Should of kept the Lothian Geminis for a bit longer. I believe they are keeping 1 Lothian Gemini

They were only on 6 month loan, and really they would just be spare. Unless they would move them to Washington for the 50 or peak times. There would really be no need for them

Would've been great replacements for the 03/04/54 & 55 Plated Scania Omnidekkas, Lothian Buses have a large number Volvo B9's that have recently been withdrawn that now include 09/59 Plates following entry into service of Volvo B5TL Alexander Dennis Enviro 400's.

Waste of money though for school buses pretty much, they don't really need any more deckers hence they're now on the 16/16A etc.

The B7/ East Lancs Vyking (3976?) That was stored at Consett since the depot opened has disappeared sometime in the past month. Must have finally gone for scrap?

There are 3 or 4 Mercs at Deptford missing various bit and pieces keeping the others going. Can't remember fleet numbers off the top of my head but I think there was 2 or 3 07 plates and possibly 5284.

Does anyone know if the Omnideka are being withdrawn, and what is the plan for the newly painted voyager ones, as I was checking and i was relatively shocked to find out that they are Euro 4, whereas some of the older ones are Euro 5 albeit only by a few years, they were probs upgraded from when ever they came from (Brighton or Bournemouth I think)
