Yeah it is 'A Captains Tale' branded although not all buses used on the 6 are branded as some runs use double deckers as I believe some journeys interwork with school services.

Is that branding still on the Pulsars?

I never seem to see it when I'm in Durham, although that might be because the branding only features (or possibly featured) on one side of the bus...

Yes it still has 'A Captain's Tale' branded although like you say it only has the branding on the drivers side and an advert frame on the other side, no idea why!

Thanks for clarifying.

I think it was said originally that it was related to an interworking pattern - they didn't gain full branding as service 6 interworks (or again, possibly interworkED) with another service.

Always thought that reasoning was baffling - why bother branding the service at all? If it was that important to brand the service, why not put the branding on both sides for both services?

Of course, cheaper to only pay for vinyls for one side of a bus!

I understand they were meant to be removing the advert frames to apply the branding to the nearside but of course now it's getting the Sapphire treatment, there's no need After all, this is Durham we're discussing - only been 2 weeks since the 22/24 was upgraded and as yet the sum total of cascades out is at 5 and all to Stockton.

I think it did interwork with the 42 once an hour.

Yes, forgot about that.

I think they tried to put unbranded Pulsar's on runs interworking with the 42 to Brasside.

Don't think it interworked with the 6 for very long though. The 42 is now the 62 and interworks with the 61.

And 2 to Blyth...

The buses on service 6 also do odd trips on other stuff, like the 62, 24X, X12 and various school services (807, 854, 865)

Observation from a few month ago, but just wanted to clarify. Spotted a double deck on the 22 in Redcar. Are these allowed on the route considering the low bridge at East Halt? Smile

They're fine from the Middlesbrough end but have to be taken off at Redcar bus station as it would be an open topper by the time it hit East Halt [emoji12]

Meanwhile Darlington have had a fair few non MAX and Sapphire buses out on their branded routes due to problems I imagine whilst Belmont chuck there's out on whatever they please it seems.

Also are we ever going to get 1461/1462 at Darlington? [emoji35]

Isn't this service now supposed to be fully Solo operated?

Yeah is supposed to be but a solo broke down earlier on

4647 is on the 21/X21 leaving Darlington now

Not necessarily, I think it's going to Pulsar before long anyway but they're getting the last out of the 1300's before they go off to the big scrapyard in the sky.

I think the 8/8A may possibly become Pulsar operated when 1461/1462 come down from Belmont. Unless they go on town services or something.

Can't see the Darts going anywhere yet but at least most of the time they only seem to be used on the 9/10 these days.

Yup, I had 1307 on 9/10 today. I think 61/62 will be used to allow the old X1 Pulsars to be refurbed. 1414 needs to be sorted though, it is running extremely rough at the minute, never been right since it arrived.

It keeps it close to the depot for majority of the day though, and Seaton Delaval is a lot closer than Alnwick or Berwick

Although that does look like you were getting the middle finger there was 2 drivers and me on there, I can assure you no one was waving any middle fingers, we were all waving to say hello Smile cracking shot as well

Good to hear. It was said more in jest than anything due to the unfortunate hand position at the time the image was captured. Smile

Thanks!

Yeah it was difficult to tell because of the sun reflecting on the windscreen but it's nice to know it was a wave instead of abuse.

It's like Dan said in the Drivers and Spotters thread the other day you are far more likely to get smiles and waves from Darlington and Teesside drivers than you tend to get from drivers in Tyne and Wear.
