Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015

(20 Jun 2015, 9:02 am)Jimmi wrote Probably not with the time I'm expecting to be back in Newcastle.

Even if I could it's annoyingly the X10 I'd have to get and I am not totally confident with catching the 21 from the A19 slip road stop although if there's time I could always walk to the Moorcock stop.

The X10 serves Peterlee Bus Station on an evening Smile

Ah right sorry, never realised.

What's the crack with the X66 and changing at Darlo or Boro?
Train is extra pennies, but maybe worth looking at.

Still on the 85 heading back to Newcastle so that is also not possible.

Train will be more cost.

Hopefully the 7's shouldn't be too bad after 8pm.

(09 Jun 2015, 7:54 pm)Kuyoyo wrote The answer is on the gentleman's following photo - it was given a second refurbishment after an accident. However, I wouldn't be surprised if all ex-London cascades and standard specification refurbishments aren't done to this standard from now on.

It will be interesting to see if the six presently reported to be migrating north (see image attached) are refurbished to this standard?

They should be! The E200s ex London were at the same standard (complete with plug sockets!) so it should be across the fleet now. I know Shires have had some Solos refurbished with e-leather.

I'm not sure if these are for us but it would make sense if they are. Not part of the reported batch for Rossendale so these should be staying within the group

NEB's fleet list.

Having been given a list of updates that had been missed by us, our fleet lists were quite outdated, to be completely fair.

Obviously does not excuse snide comments being made - especially when it's as easy as dropping me a PM or noting something on the forum, to get something updated.

The fleet lists should be spot on now, but give me a shout if you spot something that doesn't look right. The recent repaints at Darlington will be updated with the news tomorrow.

Confirmation today - 1410 has returned to Durham having been rejected by Stockton again due to the amount of faults discovered.

1410 was briefly at Darlington, and it was one of the best there.

Something I was meant to ask about the other day, I got an X21 in Bedlington on Friday morning and someone before me asked for a "Student One Zone", which was only £3.20, a pound cheaper than the normal One Zone, is there an option for a Student All Zones, as I need to get to Newcastle from either Bedlington or Morpeth tomorrow morning?

Yeah, there is a £5 all zone student day ticket.

Cheers, do all drivers know about this, the one on Friday didn't have a clue what the Student One Zone was!

Also, I'm not going to be in 'school uniform', as I'm on a school trip, will I still be able to get it?

They should!

Do you have a Teen Card? If you do, you will be able to.

The prices have gone up, they are:
1 Zone - £3.30
2 Zone - £4.10
All Zone - £5.10

Yeah, I do, to be honest, I will have my school bag and a notebook as we're off to Newcastle University to have a look at the library there to help us with our summer project. I'll have my NUS card as well.

£5.10 is a hell of a lot cheaper that £7, that gives me enough money for a Double Cheeseburger at McDonald's with money to spare Wink

Yeah I've been meaning to get a Teen Card for a while Smile
Hopefully I'll get one by summer. £1.90 saving isn't bad.

They are useful like, I mean I go to Berwick regularly, don't even want to think about how much I would have spent if I didn't have my Teen Card Wink

Obviously there are times when it's better value to buy a day ticket, but on the whole, they're brilliant!

It's a shame you can't order them online like.

Aye, they don't take very long to come in the post though. Are they allowed on the X24 or X93 yet?

I can understand not being allowed on the X93, although it would be nice, I imagine Arriva would lose a lot of money. However with regard to the X24, on every picture I've seen it is carrying very little, allowing Teen Cards would see usage rocket in my opinion...

Yeah exactly, the X22 is always busy with young people, and as GNE offer a 90p single, thats more than likely the service they are going to use!

Common sense doesn't always seem to prevail at Arriva though does it...

Haha not at all.

Anyway, as a consultation should be out this week for Northumberland services, what would people like to see changed?

I'm hoping something will be done with the X14.

Full decker allocation and end of interworking with 57A and 33. And a 10 minute frequency between Morpeth and Newcastle.

That would be in an ideal world...

The Teen Cards normally get delivered after a couple of days.

Clearly not...

Do you think it justifies a 10 minute frequency? Smile

Another thing worth noting, is that a lot of the young people who use the service board in Chester-le-Street; which is Go North East territory. They likely have Key Cards, etc from the scholars services, although I imagine some do pay full fare, as they rarely use the bus. Likewise for those in Birtley, with the POP Card. The only place I could think of where the Arriva Teen Card may hold some weight on the X24 route, is in Durham.

Also, as the X24 runs at a frequency of every 2 hours, and the X22 every hour... The more frequent it is, the more appealing it is going to be.

I think I'd like to see the following:

Massive look at the allocation of the 57/57A, and therefore the MPD operated X14's and the 33. The timetable needs to be looked at for those as well.

I'd like to see layover added into the X21/22 timetable at Bedlington, because currently, the timing for the main street, especially on the X22 is not adequate. Maybe take some out of the 10 MINUTES given at Ashington!! It can make all the difference, i don't know why, but if a bus becomes a couple of minutes late in Bedlington, it never seems to make it up, whereas if it stays on time, it will either stay on time for the remainder of the journey, or will run a minute or two early. The X10/11 get it at Cramlington, and it is a perfect opportunity to make up any lost time.

The 20/X20 extended up to Alnwick, or frequency increased.
