That's right.

With regards to the various buttons on the backs of the seats - one is the normal bell push, one is a USB power socket to charge mobile devices and tablets, and the other is an LED light. The LED light can be set to on, off, or dimmed. You press the little light to turn it on, press it again to turn it off, or press and hold it to dim it to your preferred setting.

It's obviously the highest-spec'd bus you can get as it was displayed at the NEC Bus & Coach show earlier this month - very few operators will actually pay for all of those optional extras.

Yes, on service 21 until Sunday 4th December, and then to Riverside for the TEN after that.

Nice to see 6099 getting used on a few services.

Wouldn't surprise me, still hope they go to Deptford for the 61.

Would of thought there would of been kept in the express livery and stuck them on the X84/X85.

Enviro 400s have always been a step ahead of the competition both in performance and appearance and this latest version puts it even further ahead. The Streetdecks are OK in appearance, apart from the wide pillars by the top deck front window, which I gather have been redesigned on the latest versions, but are lacklustre in performance.

Just left Peterlee Bus Station at 12:57, left Middlesbrough just over 10 minutes late and arrived around 20 minutes late. We got stuck for ages at the level crossing in Billingham (Newcastle bound).

Next departure should be 13:30 from Eldon Square.

From Go North East's Facebook:

Regrettably, the 15:00 X9 from Middlesbrough is delayed. The following X10 at 15:30 will run both X9 & X10 routes northbound.

This is the working that 9098 should have been performing.

Had a ride on 9098 from Middlesbrough to Gateshead Interchange. I was actually surprised by it, did better than I thought it would do with it achieving the limited top speed of 62mph (speedometer app I used was indicating a maximum speed of 67mph bit the app probably isn't totally accurate) Although it felt slightly sluggish getting back onto the A19 after Peterlee. It was pretty comfortable as well.

I still feel that it is not a suitable long term vehicle for the X9/X10 and I don't believe any bus currently being manufactured is, really feel some form of coach would be better suited to this route. I do feel that it would be a good buy for any other double decker route that GNE route like the 21 or the Ten. Much nicer to the StreetDeck I've got on the X21 now, not very smooth and rattles from the back upstairs.

The 21 defiantly, just take the tables out on the top deck and replace with seats and use the fold down ones (Maybe), include USB ports too.

Had a ride to Heworth on it, not bad and seats are the most comfortable I have sat on a bus. Driver kept stalling it at Gateshead or it was cutting out so kept having to restart it not sure exactly what the problem was. Hopefully will get a longer ride on it when it moves to Chester Le Street for the 21.

Might be wrong but I think it has stop, start technology.

Yes it's a hybrid (googled it), as some passengers near me thought the engine was cutting out, heard them talking about the bus. Sounded impressed with it by what they were saying.

9098 should have been leaving Eldon Square at 16:30 but that's uncertain to happen due to delays, it seemingly was not operating the 15:00 from Middlesbrough due to delays with the 15:30 X10 picking passengers on both the X9 and X10 routes according to GNE's Facebook.

Uncertain about 9099, was at Chester-le-Street heading to Newcastle at around 15:15.

Yes - it was regulated at Billingham due to being 30 minutes late.

More disruption to the X9:

Go North East

The 17:40 Tyne Tees Xpress X9 from Newcastle may operate slightly late from Eldon Square, due to a vehicle change.

The 67mph reading will more than likely be true, As to limit a bus is only by cutting the Torque to the running axle once a certain speed, So the bus can easily glide down the bank faster if the driver still has his foot on the pedal, Which on a motorway will more than likely be happening.

Not in anyway a Hybrid, It's fitted with Cummins Stop / Start System, Which cut's out the engine when the Hand Brake is applied, When the Handbrake or Footbrake is pressed, The engine restarts without the driver having to touch the Gear Selector.

Its a shame 9109 never got a go on the X9/X10 - would have been interesting to see how 9098 compared to it.
