Scotland Bus Operations

RE: Scotland Bus Operations
(24 Sep 2017, 1:16 pm)Malarkey wrote I quite like the look the look of the Streetairs, I do however hope Wrightbus offer a variation on the B8RLE Chassis offering a higher seating capacity.

The Streetair is a Wright Complete Vehicle - WF model is a WF Streetlite and the Door Forward Model is the Eclispe 3 bodywork on a Streetdeck chassis. So, no chance of a B8RLE Streetair - especially as Volvo's Electric offering is their own 7900E (the same as due for Transdev Harrogate next year).

(23 Sep 2017, 3:13 pm)Kuyoyo wrote 4 of the Streetairs are now in Edinburgh. 286 (SK67 FLE) has been out on the 'short' 26s between Haymarket and Eastfield today alongside the Vintage Fleet and the two Fleet Liveried open top Tridents. While two sisters (I didn't get chance to ID them - think one was 287) were on display at the open day - one open to the public and the other on the lifts. Meanwhile, 288 was inside the depot unregistered (see below)

These vehicles are to enter service from tomorrow on service 1. The remaining half of the allocation is expected to be upgraded next year, displacing the remaining Volvo 7900H allocation elsewhere.

Yesterday was the final day of operation for service 35, and today sees the entry into service of the new Skylink Volvo B5LHs as well as the introduction of the new Skylink 300 service.

Not a bad investment this year for Lothian:

So far in 2017, Lothian has invested in:

  • 15 Wrightbus Volvo B8RLE Euro 6 for East Coast Buses
  • 6 Wrightbus zero emission full electric buses
  • 30 Wrightbus Volvo B5TL Euro 6 for route 26
  • 15 Wrightbus Volvo B5TL Euro 6 buses for Airlink
  • 20 Wrightbus Volvo B5LH Hybrid Euro 6 buses for Skylink 300

I can't remember off top of my head which route was partly funded by the Scottish Government, think it was the 20 wright B5's.

Couple of photos of these below.

The lower frequency of the Skylink 300 (every 12 minutes down to every 15) seemingly releases the surplus Volvo B5LHs to operate Skylink 200 on Saturdays.

Lothian Buses are to receive an influx of 45 ex-London double-decks - believed to be heading for the East Coast Buses division.

To be refurbished at Thornton Bros, Ashington, over the next few weeks.

Just seen one of Dan's photos on Flickr of a coach service X74 and it has bike racks. Don't suppose anyone has any shots of these?

As posted in the Stagecoach order thread, the 6 Enviro200MMCs have now entered service from Dunfermline depot on Jet 747 between Halbeath Park & Ride and Edinburgh Airport, replacing a collection of older E300s (in corporate livery with JET branding) and ex-Aberdeen Versas (in Jet Livery) in a revised version of JET livery as shown by 26166 below

Some should be replacing the Dennis Trident Plaxton Presidents, the first of them has now arrived at Lothian.

Try this link, Michael.

As an update to my original post: I'm told that Lothian Buses were not happy with the condition of the first refurbished Volvo B9TL that they received from Thorntons, so the entire batch is going back across to Wrightbus to have the extensive refurbishment work carried out instead.

We’re excited to tell you about our latest new bus order.

We have placed an order for 42 new Euro VI vehicles from Alexander Dennis Ltd, each of which will be built on Volvo chassis

https://www.lothianbuses.com/news/2018/0...r-lothian/

Interesting, very unusual for Lothian to order ADL. Think the only Enviro's in the fleet are the Enviro 400H's.

Wonder if these are Volvo B5LH or B5TL. If they are B5TL I think that may be the first time ADL has bodied that chassis?
