Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2018

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2018
Was on 12070 yesterday on the 900, it was honestly one of the best rides I've had on stagecoach, the E400 hybrid was so quiet and smoother than any other stagecoach bus. The bus was in amazing condition for a stagecoach, would like to see them pick up more 900 contracts

Do Stockton run any Hartlepool Service 1 trips on a Sunday? Spotted a dots 52/59/61 branded E300 (couldn't ID it) on there this afternoon, about 3pm heading through Seaton Carew towards High Tunstall.

It’s to keep the sightseeing buses going due to them being used more due to the great exhibition

I was in Seaton Carew and I seen this. I was wondering if it was transferred.

Maybe a Hartlepool bus broke down at Middlesbrough and Stockton provided a replacement.

I believe at certain times Hartlepool don't have anyone manning the depot and even if a bus breaks down in Hartlepool they have to send a bus from Stockton. Ridiculous!

27169 suffered an offside front flat tyre just outside Middlesbrough bus station on a 36 to Hartlepool shortly before 8pm last night and was rescued by a tow truck around 830.

It's true on evening and on Sunday nobody is at hartlepool depot as Stockton depot is in charge on Sunday still hartlepool buses 90% of the time

More roadworks on North Bridge street until 31st December 2018

North Bridge St lane closures affecting 3, 4, 12, 13, 16, 23, E1, E2 and E6 until 31 Dec 2018

16 Jul 2018 to 31 Dec 2018

During the second phase of work, there will be a number of lane closures in place on North Bridge Street whilst highways and footpath works continue for the Northern Gateway project. The work will start at the Monkwearmouth Railway Museum moving towards the Wheatsheaf traffic lights over the course of the next 4 months.

Northbound stops outside Dunn House will remain open until further notice, however if this changes, further updates will be provided with alternative stops being made available.

Stagecoach would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding during the works and apologise for any delays or disruption that may be experienced.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Haven't long passed a forlorn looking Gas Bus on the A19.
It was parked in laybye on the northbound approach to Hylton Bridge, hazards flashing.
No passengers in view, but driver hovering about.

24002 seemingly broke down last week, on the roundabout leading onto Gateshead High Street from the Tyne Bridge.

Traffic from Gateshead College intending to turn right onto the Tyne Bridge had to go to the next roundabout and double back when it was being towed away by Alpha Recovery.

That one has never seemed to have much luck since arriving in the North East...

Sunderland's 36082 has just been getting a lift back tonight courtesy of Alpha

36972 and 36975 have both now lost their Bradley Lowery read adverts (unsure whether 36969/71 have lost theirs too)

39666 is parked up at the back of Sunderland presumably there for repaint

36082 is now getting a reputation amongst drivers, last week when it was on the 4 it just wouldn't start and took 20 minutes to get it restarted. They ended up getting 28034 to replace it.

Hartlepool are swapping 10 Man E200 for 10 ADL E200 with Sunderland and Slatyford are swapping 10 Man E200 for 10 ADL E200 with South Shields. Probably from October.

Whys that? Is it due to reliability issues?

Wouldn't Sunderland be losing newer buses?, seems a daft swap for all depots...

(28 Aug 2018, 7:58 am)RBZ 5459 wrote It's to basically spread the 39***s out more evenly. Reliability yes, but depot costs being the big one.

Seems a bit of a bizarre way of working?

Most operators seem to standardise the fleets at different depots whenever possible - it allows the engineering teams to be more familiar with that vehicle type and store more of the components they require the most of (rather than stocking an abundance of different parts for different vehicles), in order to get vehicles unfit for service back on the road sooner.

It seems odd to spread out an issue rather than have all of them based centrally at one location with a budget to reflect their lesser reliability and higher maintenance costs.

Hartlepool may be over-budget now, but I'd have hoped their budget would be revised in the following financial year to reflect the higher spend.
