Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - December 2018

RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - December 2018
today I had 1767 on the 10:28 1 off blyth and it sounded terrible (it was probably dying and i am sure it was limp mode) I had it to cowpen and it was awful sounding and quite slow and thar was a widdrington run and surprisingly made it there and back and then a wansbeck hospital run wont be surprised if it gets replaced later on today. Not too bad as it wasn't as ratly as other darts.

In other news 2816 8s now repainted on the 2s today seen it on the 10:18 off blyth.

Whatever happened to the Sapphire Uniform? Most Sapphire Services just have 'Normal' Arriva drivers now.

Ever since the Sapphire service standards were ditched, and with the standard specification being upgraded to include most features you'd find on a Sapphire bus, most of the special features were ditched, this includes uniforms and the money-back guarantee. Rotas in some places have only Sapphire-trained and uniformed drivers on Sapphire routes, whereas some have changed since. Some drivers also still wear the Sapphire uniform, however most started wearing the standard uniform when a new batch comes in.

New style Sapphire uniforms were delivered in 2016 and early-2017, however with the rebrand this practice was stopped, there is an upcoming new uniform in line with the Arriva rebrand, which from the bits and pieces I've seen, looks smarter than what's currently being used.

7617 was there yesterday too on the 52/3/4 cycle and then went onto the 306 at about 15:20 15:30 ish

Amazed they're branding the Gemini on the 306 if I'm honest. Obviously the one I seen was on the 43. Brand has a rather large red 'up to every 15 minutes' on the side, which if it was the same blue style as the X10/X11 'up to every 10 mins' decals, in line with the MAX brand, that could of been a compliment....

Still flogging a defunct brand, but suppose those Gemini won't see new livery.

More likely now as apparently the X12 has one decker board, although you would think this would be a MAX Decker but with Arriva anything shows up.

What time does the double deck board depart from Eldon Square?

Whenever I've seen an alx400 on, it's always been late afternoon/early evening. Possibly leaving Newcastle just before or just after 5.
That's not to say it isn't on all day. I've never seen it at any other time.

I saw one on the 15:25 X12 from Durham the other afternoon but the same run yesterday was a Pulsar, so no idea. Think they remain on X12 all day.

Think the MAX Volvo B7TL's tend to get allocated over Lowlander's to keep the MAX specification features, so whilst Lowlander's are possible, MAX spec B7s are more likely.

Will jesmond have blyth's services on boxing day and what will be allocated to each route

All services will be operated from Jesmond Depot, with Blyth/Ashington drivers also having to come to Jesmond for buses. All breaks are at Haymarket, with all drivers being volunteers.

Volunteers in terms of wanting to do it, but certainly not volunteering to do it for free.
