Which Mercs are these again?

Are the service changes in the public domain yet?, personally I don’t know all the changes.

Nope - only registered with the traffic commissioner last Friday, but as driver briefings have gone out to depots, it won’t be long before the changes are “public” knowledge.

Great to see they've finally extended the X21 to West (where it should have went from the start!). I'm guessing the split at Durham is because the route would then be too long for a single journey like the X9/X10
Two major questions I still have is will it still terminate at Bishop Bus Station on a Sunday and will it run to West on an evening!
I also wonder if they'll change the route through Woodhouse as I don't think they can go to West without increasing the PVR (again) unless they cut out part of Woodhouse

So the X21 going to run every 15 minutes during the day between Newcastle and Durham with half hourly extension to Auckland, will the other half hourly been run by angel streetdecks?

I would presume so, unless they'll be rebranding some Angels as Xlines
Hopefully this means that there will actually be seats on the X21s that run all the way to Bishop. Unbelievably, people actually use the X21 as an Express 21 which means there's often during peak times no seats for those who want to travel the full route!

I think it will only be every 15 mins at peak times, as it is, now.

Seems to me like they will probs be as follows:
21 going to be every 15mins to Durham. Short Chester journeys scrapped
X21 increasing to every 15mins to Durham, extending every 30mins to West Auckland

So does seem like they will have enough Streetdecks to cover once new ones arrive. So no doubt more Angel Streetdecks maybe going Xlines

If it was me I would scrap the 21 journeys between Newcastle and Durham, and have the Durham X21 observe all stops between CLS and Durham, running 'normal' 21 services between Newcastle and Durham at peak times

But then no doubt you would complaint about express services not being an express and the Xlines brand being diluted as they stop at almost every stop; just like the X45/46/47 Tongue

The X21 is already the complete opposite of an express bus (between Durham and Bishop anyway, Newcastle to CLS is quite quick), adding a couple extra stops is going to make bugger all difference!

Plus, I said only the Newcastle to Durham ones, the Bishop one would remain unchanged

Imagine getting on a bishop bound bus thinking it was all stop, sadly it wouldn’t work having the same number service with different stopping arrangements.

People do that with the X21 as it is, I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen passengers get angry because the X21 didn't stop on Durham Road or at one of the stops in Pity Me and Fram
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Well looking at this, my guess is the 310 / 311 will be the following:

- 310: Normal route but via Hadrian Park every 30 mins
- 311: From North Shields following Old 11 route to Tynemouth Rd then Churchill Street then Battle Hill Drive following 310 to Newcastle.
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
I was just thinking, with the X21 getting extended to West, does that mean that the months of training the CLS drivers on the current X21 route was essentially wasted?
They'll also have to update the vinyls they've just fitted inside of the Xlines StreetDecks, and from looking at them they've been planning this for a while since there's plenty of space blank left after Tindale Crescent

I also wonder which route they'll take through Tindale, my guess is they'll just follow the 6 and miss out Sainsburys as I rarely see people get off there anyway and use the stop opposite Tesco.
What I think would be a better route is (if they continue to serve Woodhouse and end up on Greenfields Road) is go straight across the at the lights, right at the round about, right at the next one, stop at the Northbound Sainsburys stop, then rejoin the 6. That way they'd cut out having to wait an eternity to turn right at the lights and getting stuck in the never ending traffic jam caused by people trying to turn into Lidl!

I take it the journeys between Hadrian Park and Newcastle, are withdrawn. PVR would be 5, a drop of 3, i would imagine these Citaro's would go on the 6 and 12/12A?

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Well, I spoke with a driver yesterday (who may have been wrong) but I got told that the 310 / 311 will be every 20 minutes each with the 310 route remaining the same and the 311 just running between Hadrian Park and Newcastle presumably via High Farm. The 309 will remain unchanged. So if the driver was right, here is what it could look like......

PVR: 9x
North Shields (310): 00:00
Newcastle (310): 00:47
Newcastle (311): 00:56
Hadrian Park (311): 01:22
Hadrian Park (311): 01:25
Newcastle (311): 01:57
Newcastle (310): 02:06
North Shields (310): 02:49

So working it out, Battle Hill currently has 11x GNE services per hour to Newcastle but if the above is correct, it will have 10x GNE services per hour to Newcastle with a PVR reduction of 1x. The only other thing I could think off is GNE re-routing the 309 back via the Silverlink and Willington Square / St Peter's to target more customers from the 22 and 308 but would be unlikely as that would leave Battle Hill without a service to the main part of Cobalt Business Park.

Interesting, PVR for the 309 would remain at 7, and the above 9, meaning a PVR of 16, but may add the branded 17th one in for timing, like they do with the 56, can't see them repainting one.

Percy Main are also waiting for 6099 to transfer over too, as a spare, so the spares will remain as 2.

From what I gather, the 309 will stay at every 15 minutes meaning the PVR will remain at 10 vehicles.

The 335 goes to Cobalt from Battle Hill, of course.
