New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes

But if we're going off the low bridge in Dunston, then they could have ordered taller E400s as 6337 is taller and still fits under.
RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
If I'm allowed to interrupt this conversation, I'd like to chime in and say that I'm roughly 6' 7" - so naturally I don't fit in anywhere - but I find the difference between a 'normal' double decker and the new 'Low Height' E400s on the X30 (my local route) to be pretty brutal.
I've not gone so far as to wait up to 2 hours to get 6337, but I have been tempted...

So much so that I limit myself to the first row of forward-facing seats behind the stairs, because I'm so hunched up trying to walk on the upper deck that I lose all of my balance, and so I can't walk far at all down the length of the bus.

PSVAR regulations mandate that grabrails are a minimum of 1500 mm from the floor - has anybody ventured out with a tape measure on the E400s? Because the handles on the seats don't seem that high to me..?  And even then, what happens when all of the aisle seats are occupied? You either reach out to grab the handle and you grab a handful of someone's shoulder; or, when you're my height, what happens is your wrists are angled in the wrong directions and you end up going arse-over-tit...

And most annoyingly, these forward-facing seats behind the stairwell have been removed on the new E400s, which have a different seat layout on the upper deck, much to my chagrin.

I wonder if there is any reason for this?  Any reason at all?
RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
Saw one of the E400s earlier this evening with its external strip light illuminated green. Looked good!

Also saw a Streetdeck this evening, from a distance, but it’s strip light appeared more yellow?
RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
Spotted on bustimes.org this morning...

Theres at least 4 Crusader citaro's at Deptford

5305 is on the 55
5307 is on the 2S
5308 is on the 39
5310 has been reported on a Deptford school service
5306/5311 is also on the 39S

Along with:

5323 is on the 20 (GNE livery)
5325 is on the 35A (GNE livery)

Wonder if these are permanent movements?, hopefully get rid of 5481-5487.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Both 6336 and 6337 parked at the front of depot today (they've taken the space previously occupied by omnicity 5238) . Transfer to Hexham imminent?
Has 5238 been sold as it was at the front of the depot for a couple of months but was in the workshop yesterday.

How many of the B5s are back now?

I need to pop down to Bishop at some point this week, and if 'most of the B5s' are supposed to be running from this week, it'd be nice to kill 2 birds so to speak

Any reason for the Yorkshire (Beverly) registrations for the Enviro's? Not sure if it's been mentioned but unusual for GNE not to register buses up here.

Someone asked MG this on Twitter and this is the reason why:

I'd hazard a guess it was to do with the Scarborough ADL plant.

Thanks, had a feeling it might have been Covid related and the need to get them into service.

Id not seen the link to MG's twitter prior to posting my reply (guessing they were posted at a similar time).

Beverley must be the nearest office to the Scarborough plant.
I can see why it might be nice to have them registered local, but Covid or not - seems more practical for ADL to sort it.

If I remember right, Evobus registered the 4 branded Mercs and it's why they have their midlands type reg.

RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
ADL probably did the registrations so they use the nearest office to the factory (which is Beverley in this case). If Go North East did the registrations then they would use the Newcastle office (as per the E200MMCs).

Go Ahead London let the manufacturers do the registration so it is easy to see which ADL vehicles have a Falkirk or a Scarborough body by the fact that their reg begins with a S or a Y.
RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
I just noticed whilst browsing Flickr that the StreetDecks now have a gold vinyl over the glass between the driver and the staircase. When did that happen?

It stands out because it's nowhere near the same colour as the rest of the gold.

Looked better just being black glass IMO
RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
Noticed on a YouTube video the NSAs, onboard an Xlines e400MMC, were saying "This is a Toonlink X71....".

Had my first proper ride on the X21 B5s today and all I can say is I want the StreetDecks back!

The ride quality is absolutely horrendous between Durham and Bishop, even on the resurfaced roads it crashes around all over the place.
6314 also has an awful rattle over even the slightest of bumps, it sounds like it's coming from the panel at the top of the stairs

The Aircon also doesn't seem to be as good as the StreetDecks, I can hear it but nowt's comes out the vents!

I take back all my complaints about the StreetDecks on the motorway, I'd happily suffer for 15 minutes of motorway over 90 minutes of rattle.

I guess there wasn't enough time for the buggy bays to be installed

I popped into Consett to have a look at the E400, are they a different shade of green again, the colour looks a lot 'deeper' compared to the X30 ones.

I was genuinely wanting them they'd be alright. I hope that 6314 is just a fluke and the rest are good.
I liked the ex demo B5 that I used the other week, it was nowhere near as bad

I had 6314 on the X9/X10 just before it went away and it was faultless in terms of ride and rattles etc. I wonder if they've had any interior touch ups while away and a panel hasn't quite been put back on right.

Honestly it was horrendous, I was going to record it but my battery was dying and the sockets weren't working! I assume the the socket situation is the same as the StreetDecks where the driver has to manually turn them on?

They haven't installed the buggy bay yet so I don't think they would have done anything inside, but it's probably an easy fix. (Probably with some rolled up ticket paper!)

RE: New StreetDecks & ADL Enviro400s - X-lines fleet changes
I might be missing something here but I'm sure there's no aircon in either the Streetdecks or B5TL's and there hasn't been any on any bus since the Citaro's. It's no wonder neither how crap it was on the Omnicities.

There's definitely none on the new Enviro's or B9TL's as there's an aircon unit at the top of the stairs when it's fitted - http://www.britishmodelbuses.com/Real_bu..._Large.jpg
