I focused too much on the traffic light, white paint and raw meat shares! Keep missing out on the bus paint ones!

No proper internal photos yet, but you can see through to one of the rear facing seats in the below image which shows the top section has been replaced by an all-red section:

Seems wierd getting rud if them, all they really needed was a refurb to get up to the same spec as the crusader & Cityrider B9s tbh, could have just refurbished 6118-6121 rather than get 6334-37 which are older as 6118-21 are 15 plate and 6334-7 are 63-64 plate.

I think it was because they were odd in the EY fleet, and they have B9's so hence exchange.

6118 - 6121 are Euro 5, 6334 - 6337 are Euro 6.

Dan, how many buses within the GNE fleet aren't actually needed now, even with a pre-covid PVR?, like how many buses can be fully withdrawn now once the dupes have finished?

RE: Go North East: Withdrawn Vehicles & Fleet Disposals
6118-6121 were dealer stock vehicles, and looking at their chassis numbers on bus lists on the web, they were built around Feb 2014 as part of a large batch of unregistered 40-50 Volvo B9TL / Wright Eclipse Gemini 2s as dealer stock before engine emission rules came into force. The dealer stock ended up with GNE, EYMS, Arriva North East, Preston Bus, Bus Vannin (IoM) plus various independents.

Whilst 6334-6337 were built as follows....
6334 / 6335 - Early 2014.
6336 / 6337 - Mid 2014.

The registration of a bus doesn't always reflect the true age of the vehicle. Sometimes vehicles are stored somewhere in a shed or field. Hence why Bob Smith Travel had 3 Plaxton bodied coaches build in the 1970s on E Prefix Plates (E901DRG/E902DRG being Bedfords and E903DRG being a Ford). There is a number of other examples like a number of LHD Leyland Atlantean products failing to reach their intended destination abroad and recieving a later registration, this includes a D registered Willowbrook example with Go Whippet and a F registered Neoplan bodied example running as a Non-PSV.

In fact two vehicles new to GNE have registrations suggesting they are newer than the rest of the batch, that being Omnicity 5268 (07 instead of 56) and B9TL 6083 (13 instead of 62) which were both damaged on delivery and were delayed due to repairs that by the time they arrived they qualified for a newer plate. And of course the latest delivery of Streetdecks, some of them are a good few months to possibly a year older than the rest of the same order due to issues with Wright Bus seeing some of the earlier examples being sat stored in Northern Ireland.

GNE seemed to mess around with registration dates quite a bit when vehicles arrive just before a new plate comes out. The B5s were re-registered on 67 plates as they weren't due to go into service until later on

Blyth Vario's (ALX100) are another example of this being registered in 2000/2001 but were built in 1998 after supposedly sitting in a field for 2 years (not too sure how true this is though).

Indeed, that's the story I heard about them.

GNE 3962-3965 were delivered on 55 plates, but were stored and put on 06 plates. Here's a photo of all 4 at Volvo Washington, with the 55 plates visable on 3 of them, there is a seperate photo of 3963 (which was parked seperate from the other 3 showing the 55 plate) https://www.flickr.com/photos/gjm-photog...5860847466

Wonder if these will be used by those crossing the line at Queens Road for the £1 flat fare services.

On the info on Dan’s flickr page it states:

The additional minibuses are required at Go North West due to the award of new contracts from April 2021, tendered by Transport for Greater Manchester. They will be treated to a repaint at Read Motor Body Commercials, Accrington, prior to entering service within Go North West's fleet.

Passed 5 of the coaches yesterday on the M11 at Cambridge headed south with trade plates. 3 white and 2 with x-lines wrap.
