Go North East: Withdrawn Vehicles & Fleet Disposals

They've sold some of them as NatEx probably isn't going to come back with as big of a network as it had, may as well get rid of some buses that would just be sitting around. Still plenty of coaches left.

7121/22 and 7133/34 were the four coaches you'll have observed on Thursday - they have been sold to Ensign.

7120 has similarly been sold to Ensign, and has been moved down to East Yorkshire in Hull, in readiness for their acquisition of a further ADL Enviro 200 from Ensign next week.

Mercedes Citaro 5482 appears to be withdrawn at Deptford. The engine has gone into another vehicle and several other components have been removed.

I've got 5482 noted as withdrawn a little while back.

However, if there's parts being removed, it now looks pretty final!

Former GNE Solos in action with GNW in Middleton on Thursday. The irony also is that one of them was the first vehicle I've gotten in GNW livery as my previous visit in 2019 only one E400 had been painted and I couldn't find it to photo it whilst lurking in the area until it mocked me by crossing over the M62 motorway as I was heading home. So Thursday was my first visit to the area since then. No Citaros were out, another visit is planned over the coming months once the strike is over.

Anyway...

No:
  • 7129 was replaced by one of ex-Oxford interdeck coach 7151 - that displaced a Northern Coaching twin-axle from Riverside to Deptford for use on the 4274, replacing 7129 which was withdrawn.
  • 7131 was never reinstated into full service - it was used as transport for drivers on loan to another part of the Go-Ahead Group, but when they returned, the coach was parked up at Volvo, surplus to requirements.

Thank you for the info, what will happen with 7135-7 at the end of the school year? Will they return to NX (like 7138-49 presumably will next month when NX look to be reinstating service to the NE). I'm presuming 7111/28 will be kept at Riverside permanently as X9/X10 spares.
