Electric Buses/new orders

RE: Electric Buses/new orders

Tbf though there was only two left at the end of service yesterday and one of those got pulled around 5pm and forced everyone to change buses.

I believe it's upto a 30% reduction in range when it's colder.

Wonder if the electric buses for the X66 are due this month.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

They were rarely all on the X66 anywho so no difference really

Yeah that's true. X66 needs deckers a lot of the time. I wonder what will happen with allocations when the new ones arrive at busy times. Will they keep them or or they might end up using the Voltra Decker instead and put these on the 58.

Doubt it, I think they'll continue with Wrightbus due to the large Go-Ahead Group order, will be interesting to see when they'll be delivered.

I would presume that the 307/309 would move over to Riverside however I could see them knocking down the second garage at Percy Main to make way for charging points to be installed.

That's true, I haven't been on the electric Wrightbuses yet so can't comment, if they're good or not.

Wonder if this electric order, will withdraw some of the older B9s?

The full lot of Ex London B9's will go if the 56 gets new buses which I believe it is rumoured to be true for delivery later in the year.

Sure it was said they were Enviro400MMCs, which is a surprise, thought they would of been Wright buses.

Unless GNE are now sticking with Wrightbus and the Ultroliner/StreetDeck due to the Cummins offering?

Also, quite interesting that GNE are getting 18x for the 307 & 309 - which would leave 3x spare unless GNE are planning a future PVR increase

Definitely Enviros, no more WrightBus apparently.

ADL can supply buses faster than Wright can currently and I’m imagining that’s a rather big factor

To be fair I think Go-Ahead Group are 50/50 between Alexander Dennis and Wrightbus at the moment and are selective in the ordering process, The South Coast ops such as Brighton & Hove, Morebus, Salisbury Reds and South Vectis are good examples right now as orders in recent years have been heavily Alexander Dennis however upcoming deliveries are of Wrightbus Electroliners.
RE: Electric Buses/new orders
I have worked it out, but with 18x vehicles - GNE could re-increase the current (from 22nd March) PVR by 1x to 16x.

Would be something like the following

309:
- Every 15 mins Newcastle to Cobalt & Whitley Bay Town Centre
- Every 30 mins to Blyth - which is sensible

307:
- Every 15 mins Newcastle to Hadrian Park
- Every 30 mins to North Shields - which is sensible given the decline in North Shields and this being the weaker section

Gives a 7-8 minute service between Battle Hill Drive and Newcastle via High Farm.

Might no doubt do it sooner once some vehicles freed up. I doubt Arriva would do anything as such now. They've got their strongholds and also the clear time advantage over the 309 to capitalise on.

Random question but was their any particular reason as to way Go North East went with the Manufacturer moquette instead of the Red they've been using?
I did at first thought the moquette on the Streetdecks was the new Go-Ahead moquette but its Wrightbus' and from the FB post about the ADL E200EV's they have ADL's newest moquette.

Can't comment on the ADL's but the moquette on the new vehicles is 100% the new GoAhead interior and nothing to do with Wright. I haven't looked around at other buses but GA74 ZEB which is the ADL Demo bus 100% has it aswell and was the first one aswell - I believe.
RE: Electric Buses/new orders
Might have already been mentioned but are the GNE livery MF75 *** plate buses electric ?
