Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - April 2014

Bit of a shame that really when 2 of the wretched things have gone up in smoke and been written off, the rest of them cost a fortune to keep running with parts difficult to source ( thus making them even more costly to run when they are VOR for days and are hated by most people!
We had the batch of Merc Prismas down here at Redcar - 3000 to 3028 - which were a wonderful, reliable and practical vehicle, but like anything Arriva get they were poorly maintained and run into the ground.

3001-3025! Plus 3026 2nd hand.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Yep, slightly wrong with my fleet numbers but right with the fact they were a good vehicle trashed by Arriva! Look how long 3007 hung on and that only bit the bullet because they wouldn't look after it.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
1302 is still in Darlo, it was on the 2 today. This Dart has been on the cards to move to Belmont for a very long time and just doesn't seem to go

Yes, excellent machines. The others would have lasted as long as 3007 if they had been betrer looked after.

?Possible temporary replacements for the E400s 7508/11 which have gone to Redcar.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Durham had ALX400 7478 on the X1/X2 again. Also on were 2 Pulsars, 1418 and 1468 but they're considered normal.

Darlington had Pulsar 1507 on the X66 too.

No, since February it's been split back to the 81/81a (except the opposite way round - previously the 81a was the Stokesley service that diverted via Lakes Estate to serve Redcar Hospital, now the 81a is the short journey as far as Guisborough which operates via the Green Lane Estate at Redcar East railway station and avoids Kirkleatham)

The stop for it is just in Newton under Roseberry village. It's about a 5 min walk from there to the actual car park.

Indeed it is, talking with the driver during a layover here, the vehicle allocated this morning developed a fault so this replaced it

Someone said it couldn't happen after the service changes, but we knew different!

Seen at Redmarshall this morning.
