Looks like there's plenty of room looking on google earth, and from memory of when we used to go that way on the 5 there did seem to be enough. Will find out tomorrow I am sure, go round there twice each way...

Just wondering about the Live Map thing, I've noticed in the past few days when I've been using it to see where the bus is that 4 or 5 buses this week (mainly Ashington) that I've used haven't been appearing on the map, only as the grey bus to show where it should be according to timetable but then I have been on the same bus at other times and the tracking has been working on it, any reason for this?

Is it common for drivers to have to kickstart an OmniCity's engine from the back of the vehicle? I think I recall a comment about the engine cover being too heavy to open so should only be opened when two engineers are present?

Likewise, is it common for Arriva drivers to use the Go North East office at Hexham Bus Station?

I've not heard of it before, but yeah Arriva drivers occasionally use GNE's base at Hexham should they be 'caught short'.

4078 and 7367 have been removed from Ashington old depot yard.

Despite refusing to do so earlier in the week, circumstances forced my hand (in the rain) towards the back end of the week and I used an explorer ticket to/from Teesside a few times.

A couple of points to note: Despite leaving Durham or Chester on time and also arriving on Teesside as scheduled, drivers were having to push the Pulsars all the way, to keep to to the timetable.
It was the same returning home.
The heat pouring out of the back end of the vehicles, made the trip quite uncomfortable too.

Ended up on a Sxxx ONL Daf appearing on a 21a after missing an x7/x9 home one afternoon too.
Again, pushed to the limit for the journey north, but managed to make up time.
Despite the rattles, shakes etc the engine didn't seem as hot as the Pulsars did and it seemed ok on the country lanes around the Trimdons too.

Not sure how common it is, or the reason behind it - but the newer vehicles (not just ANE Pulsars), all seem to flood the lower saloon with heat. Noticed it on a few of the Geminis on the GNE 56 too. At times, they can be like an old school Atlantean temperature wise!

Quick note to say the first day of the summer X16 today was operated by Scania 4664...
Also first day of summer X93 timetable today, not sure how it went as I've been off but I've heard reports that 1743 appeared at some point this morning... The 2 extra deckers have transferred South from Ashington for the summer so things are looking good, hopefully a stable allocation can occur more often than not.
7485 was in Stockton depot on Friday morning, unsure why but it had disappeared later.

First of the Teesside changes for July has managed to be publically revealed by the Ingleby Barwick Ward Councillors' Facebook Page

IBIS Ward Councillor David Harrington is delighted to receive notification from Arriva North East that the company will be introducing late evening and Sunday/Bank Holiday bus services in Ingleby Barwick.

Arriva will today register revised timetables with the Traffic Commissioner. These new timetables will be implemented on Sunday 20th July 2014.

The main changes will include:-

*Service 17 will provide an hourly evening and Sunday/Bank Holiday service.
*Slight timetable changes for the morning Service 17 to help students travelling to Yarm and Eaglescliffe.
*Slight timetable changes for Service X17 to address punctuality issues.

Timetable information will be available directly from Arriva North East ahead of the changes in July.

Councillor Harrington welcomes these changes as a positive move for the whole community. Speaking about the changes, Councillor Harrington said: "For the past 8 years, Ingleby Barwick has suffered significant reductions in bus services. I am sure the community will welcome these changes. I hope more people will join me and leave the car at home and travel by public transport. I am committed to working with any bus operator who is prepared to deliver a sustainable bus service for our growing community and surrounding villages".

Apart from the Nexus contracts, I wonder if these are the changes proposed as a result of customer feedback from a few months ago.

On the subject of deckers for X93 I would of thought 7445 and 7446 would have been suitable as they worked 723 when new then at jesmond and also last year at Darlo on service 1 coping with hilly route to Tow Law. Using these buses with a proven record would have allowed the ex London examples time to prove themselves in service in Nortumbria much like the Dafs that came north for use on the Metro Replacement last summer. I'm told, for example, that the vast majority of the changes are around revisions to peak running time, which means that whilst it appears the Teesside network is being recast, in reality, the majority will see little change.

It just looks significant with the registrations that have gone in.

The new X5 does seem interesting? Another step in the right direction?

On 7515 and I've noticed that the vents(?) at the front are covered on the left hand side any idea why?

I would hazard a guess that it's to improve the demisting flow to the driver's side.

When wet passengers get on there's a lot of moisture to cope with.
