(10 Apr 2015, 9:37 pm)MurdnunoC wrote It's more of a ceremonial role in modern-day wrestling where they do nothing more than ring the bell to signify the beginning or end of matches. In the past, their role would have included the enforcement and management of time within matches when time-limits and rounds were more prevalent. Obviously, as wrestling transitioned from being semi-legit to worked, their duties became more obsolescent over time.
The only time I ever notice a bell in wrestling these days is when they have the 10 bell tribute when somebody dies or when they use a 'guest' timekeeper Smile

Never know they might do it on Raw as well

I remember listening to someone or reading saying WWE do stuff like that at house shows to gauge fan reaction...

One thing I would like to have seen would have been either a GB & Ireland faction with BNB, Sheamus, Neville and Finn Balor or a Euro stable with Rusev, Cesaro, also Stuart Tomlinson(Hugo Knox) and Tim Wiese from NXT and the ever delightful Paige somewhere in the mix...

Whether that would work or not, I dont know, but I suppose BNB and Sheamus are beyond being bogged down and tied to a faction of some kind Big Grin

Nobody can deny that Rock Steadfast is indeed The Rock!

And Bret Rico is probably the greatest (and perhaps only) one-man faction in wrestling today!

If it were held in the North East I'd probably go along to troll.

Rock Steadfast sounds like an All-American hero in a 1950's Film

Is Bret Rico not doing what Heath Slater did...Substitute One Man Band for One Man Faction Big Grin

I would probably join you to troll it if it were in the North East

I can, never heard of either of them.

He looks like one too. If he is, he predates The Rock by some 46 years. What a rip-off merchant Dwayne Johnson is!

Ya know who I think Rock Steadfast looks like...

Well if HHH and Davey Boy Smith could have had babies together, Rock Steadfast would be the product of such a relationship

There is the old saying

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, in this case if I were The Rock, X-Pac, Kane or Undertaker I would be mightily pissed off and not very flattered in the slightest

To me, this looks to be not much more than a backyard operation

To be honest, if I were imitated in this way I'd probably piss myself laughing.

I'd be more annoyed about people paying for this event expecting real WWE stars although, in this promoters defence, it's quite clear that this is a tribute act rather than the real deal.

Still, try telling that to a five year old kid.

I see WWE brought King of the Ring back, 1/4 Finals on Raw Last Night, the last 4 and Final on the WWE Network tonight...

Does anyone one of our very own(I'm on about Big Nev, of course) can win it in an all English(Preston v Newcastle Smile) or possibly an England v Ireland...

Would I be thinking stupid to say I think Neville might win against Barrett, to set up an English Feud between the two...

Never really seen much of NXT, so not 100% about how good he is, but I have been impressed with what little I have seen and can see why he is nicknamed 'The man that gravity forgot'

Go Neville Go

Quarter Final
Bad News bt Dolph Ziggler
R-Truth bt Stardust
Sheamus bt Dean Ambrose by DQ
Neville bt Luke Harper

Semi-Final
Bad News v R-Truth
Sheamus v Neville
Final
Bad News/R-Truth v Sheamus/Neville

Go Neville Go

I first saw Neville (then Pac) wrestling for a promotion called IWF in either a social club in Jarrow or the church hall next to Gateshead Metro over ten years ago. He was labelled a spot-monkey by some, perhaps most notably by the promoter of a rival local promotion called wZw. Within two years, he was wrestling for both wZw and IWF in addition to other promotions around the country.

He's came a long way since then but, it goes to show, you can make it to the big-time of you're willing to work hard and train hard.
