In theory, even though it's a spare vehicle, it forms a vital role on the X21 / X22 allegedly providing a backup when any of the 15 in servce fail. Same scenario with 6099/6100 appearing on the Fab 56 and 6116 or 6117 (whichever is spare) appearing on the Cobalt Clipper.
All of red GNE's B9s bar 6084, are 'all routes' spare but have priority on their primary backup routes. Before the PVR increase at Percy Main last year, if the Mackems were playing on a Saturday or extra capacity was needed on the Coaster for events like The Mouth Of Tyne Festival etc, then as long as 6101-6115 weren't off the road, they could use 6116/6117 on the Coaster, 9 or even both to fulfill this but if 2 or even 1 of the 15 were off the road, then it was a no no.

Its more of a rare working when a Coastliner 308 is actually on the 308

Thing is though, even if Blyth have that vehicle spare and don't need it on the 308, they should not be sending it out unless it's an emergency due to the fact that it has been funded by the GBF.

Yes
I use the 52 every week, twice since it's BEGINNING I have had a 52 bus on the route.
Same story with the 306

Never to be repeated? Happens every year, just like it did last year
